Anyone familier with this guitar as I have just commited to purchasing one at what might or might not be a reasonable price. The object of desire is an extremely beautiful unmarked chrome wine red colour with white fittings, burns tuning heads (not locking), I couldn't read the wording on the pickups which looed aged white in colour, three Strat style knobs and tremelo arm.
Appreciate any comments and ideas on what could be termed a reasonable price not that it can make any difference now as I said I have commited myself so hope I made a good choice.

Ron,
The Pick-ups are REZ-0-MATIC's.
In the Marvin guitars are also the same pick-ups.
Cheers,
Jan

Hi Ron
I had a marqueewith rezomatic pickups, and although it says rezomatic on the Marvin they are not the same.
The Marqee has ceramic mgnets and i,m pretty sure the Marvin uses 6 Alnico magnets like a Strat.
The original Marvin certainly used the 6 magnet alnico ones, as i,ve just repaired one.
. This doesn,t mean that the marquee,s pickups arae second rate .
The sound of my marquee was excellent, in fact, i wish i still had it ,,as it was a great guitar
Keep well

Jan & Mitch
Thanks for your remarks and I know now that I am paying a good price: £260 GBP and I checked a couple of sites and these show as approx £300 GBP.
I am just glad I didn't make a mistake in committing to buying this beautiful guitar. Now I just cannot wait to get it home and start playing.
After 45 years I am finally a 2 guitar man and finally have a Burns to play with.
Attached is a Burns pic of the exact same guitar.

I like the headstock better than the scroll one.

I agree Charlie
I had for years hankered after a Burns with scroll head, as per Shadows style amongst so many, but when this big beauty, it ain't exactly small, was sitting there on a stand I just knew I had too have it.
The colour quality is absolutely stunning and this example is almost perfect in every way and the fact that it has a 5 way blade switch plus a push/pull tone control allowing 2 more choices (giving 7 in all) from single pickup to all three and every pairing in between and maple neck all a** up to one h**l of a guitar.

Just checked my new guitar, the Burns Batwing, and can confirm that the pick-ups are Rez-o-matic's.
Should be collecting it next week once it has been setup.

I can't wait to do so Charlie, I am going through my small list of tracks I can actually play that will suit the guitar nuances.
I listen and am so impressed with the many artists who have posted sound files on this site and it makes me feel so inadequate but after a 20 year lay off I am getting back there.
I have most of the regular backtracks but some of the songs here are so good it makes me want so much more.

I know exactly how you feel Ron. Bojan's friend Roka is a case in point. I am absolutely overwhelmed with his version of "This Masquerade". I am looking forward to seeing it on You Tube, when Bojan works out how to add a backdrop of Belgrade. I have a folder of all the files posted on 4shared, and I listen to them in amazement.

I found a great method for changing backgrounds to suit for the amateurs amongst us.
the well known auction site - look for green screen and for £10 GBP you can purchase a sheet specifically designed as a plain background which in a half-decent video editing software can the be replaced by another background either a still pic or indeed even another video.
Ulead - reasonably priced video editing software with all the tricks you can shake a stick at including "chroma-key" which is what we are talking about here.
I cannot pick any one guitarist from so many who have produced files for us as they are all brilliant. What does amaze me is the myriad of backtracks they seem to find, I just wish I knew where they get them from and just how many are available. I tried using karaoke tracks but they just don't "have it" hence my post about asking muso's to post the BT source so we can all try these songs out.
Mind you with so many of us actively involved how about we produce our own tracks between us which could be recorded to order and who knows maybe even make money?

Thanks for that info about the "green screen" Ron, that is a very useful piece of information. I agree with you about the backing tracks, obviously there are the standard UB Hank series etc. and Goran's tracks, (a lot of which I have found to be more accurate "tempo" wise, than the commercial tracks.). But I have also noticed that there are a lot of sites where you can purchase commercially made backing tracks for tunes other than The Shadows. (and in fact there several CD's in Leos Den). I would imagine that these could be quite expensive, unless you are recording on a commercial basis.
