Hi, I just joined to this great group and would like to put some questions to you guys: The first one is that i'm intending to buy a used zoom g2.1nu unit and i would like someone to explain me the following: -I read somewhere here in the forum that the EFTP patches compreends 30 different programs. Question: -Are each one of this programs written for a shadows theme in particular or are all of them slightly different, in some manner, from each other? The other question about g2.1nu is about the included expression pedal. I intend to use it in Hank themes like "Deer hunter theme", with that kind of violin sound. I wonder if any of you guys have tried this unit's pedal and what is your opinion about it - is it reliable, smooth, etc... Another question i would like to put is about my guitar: -I'm not a 'pro' guitarrist, in fact i'm a drummer since my 13's, but i love to play guitar and i'm surely completely in love with that sound of Hank Marvin, so, i do not have an expensive strat, nor expensive gear at all. In fact, i have a bulletstrat squier and i use an amp simulator for VOX AC15/30. This guitar does not have 3 single pickups like a normal strat, it has a humbucker pickup in the bridge and the other 2 are single pickups. I would like to know if i would get a major advantage in replacing the pickups to try to get a more aproached tone to Hank's, and what would be the best choices, without spending too much money (on a squier)!
Thanks in advance,
Carlos

Hi Carlos, Welcome to the site. The 30 different patches cover different echo and other effects. Hank did not use one echo sound, there were many units and settings, so that's why there are several patches. Some patches are for effects other than Hank's, such as a surf type reverb etc. Regards, Charlie

Hi Carlos I have two echo units and one is a Zoom G2.1Nu with Charlie's EFTP. For the first time I used this unit on stage at our Shadows club meeting on the weekend with a Mexican Strat and VOX AC 30. Although I didn't use the Zoom unit's pedal for the Deer Hunter on stage (as I'm a fairly new and nervous player and didn't want to over complicate things) I often use its pedal at home and it works fine. We'll have some videos on our club's website over the next week or so but I was very happy with the guitar tone from the unit and will bring it along again some time. Also I only had it running on batteries for a short set on stage and it was 100% reliable though it does chew up batteries if used for a long time. Hope this helps Best wishes Rosemary

Hi Carlos, If you don't like the sound of the stock pickups you could always try a set of Ironstone gold pickups. There are a few people on this site who have had very good results with them (me included) and for just over £30.00 delivered they should not break the bank Best regards, Maurice.

Hi Rosemary, Thank you for telling me about your experience with the g2.1nu. This unit really interests me because it's often refered as a good choice for getting that Hank's tone with Charlie's EFTP patches and the included pedal really comes handy in some themes. By the way, what is the url of your club's website?
Regards,
Carlos

Hi Maurice, Thanks for your tips about the pickups. Think i will try the new tones when i get the g2.1nu and Charlies's EFTP and then i will decide if to replace pickups or not.
Regards,
Carlos

Hi Charlie,
I am now a owner of a G2.1NU used unit. Purchased it by a good price (100 euros) and it's completely new since it has not been practicaly used by the previous owner. Made a factory reset and upgraded the firmware to the last release. Now i want to order your EFTP patches, but i would like to ask if you have specific patches for this unit or if they are only for the G2 model. I'm not sure if the parameters are exactly the same for G2 and G2.1nU, because lately i have seen descriptions for some parameters of G2 patches that i can't seem to find in the available parameters of G2.1nu. Can you please tell me if there is any difference between the two units parameters? Also, would like to know what is the price of the EFTP and how can i proceed with the order.
Thanks, Carlos

I expect Charlie will reply himself, but I thought you should know that because of copyright infringement issues, Charlie no longer supplies EFTP for any units and only supports those units whose serial numbers are already registered with him. I would also advise you not to attempt to acquire the patches illegally from any other source.
Sorry to bring bad news.
Keith

I would have thought it prudent that someone ought to have advised this lad before he spent the money on the unit

I made a point of announcing it here at the time. What else can I do?

Hi Neeley, just a 5 minutes Google or a 5 minutes look around on this site would give him enough info before hand and prevent him to spend money the "wrong way".
Sinds Charlie annonces he's no longer doing EFTP....new members are popping up on this site like daisy's. The ink of there membership account isn't dried yet and they ask can I buy EFTP?.... As a guest they could have find the info in a jiffy in here and the web.
The remark you made about/towards the members here, "lacking giving support" to a newby, is a bold one for a fist time post.... If the guy had ask or did the mentioned above, he would get the right info and could have handled accordingly! Neely I sugguest you do the same, before you judge.....
Cheers Rob

Dear Charlie, i am owner of a zoom G2.1nu pedal with EFTP patches.
By having a motorcycle accident, i was enable the play my music.
My son used my guitar and other materials to play.
Last week i played my fender again and it sounded awfull.
After asking my son what happened, he told me, he changed a lot of patches.
He believed it sounded better.
I have been trying, by changing the settings, to get "the sound" back.
But i can't.
Please help me!!
