Hi Everyone
Happy New Year to everyone from the team at the Jet Harris Memorial Fund! We have some great news to start 2014! We’re pleased to report that we have just sent a further cheque to Cancer Research UK, making a total of £15,625.00 given to Cancer Research UK in the two years since the Fund’s inception. All of the money has been given specifically for research into cancer of unknown primary. £15000 has been given to two research projects led by Dr Wasan and his team at Imperial College London and £625 was given to general research into cancer of unknown primary.
This fantastic amount has been raised thanks to the help of many people and is the result of: donations given in memoriam; a raffle at Shadowmania; concerts, raffles and events organised by Shadows clubs, bands and others; collections at shows; donations given from CD sales; donations from individuals’ the well known auction site sales; donations at events and as a result of awareness raising! We would like to say a huge “thank you” to everyone who has supported the Fund and who has worked so hard to help us raise this excellent amount in memory of Jet.
The second piece of good news is that Cancer Research UK has decided to continue to support research into cancer of unknown primary. Therefore, we have decided not to close the Memorial Fund at the end of 2013 as originally planned. We are delighted to announce that the Fund will remain open! So, thank you again for all of your help during the last two years and we hope that you will continue to support the Jet Harris Memorial Fund in the future!
Further information can be found at www.jetharrismemorialfund.org and more photos of Jet and of various events can be seen on the JHMF Facebook page
We hope that you will all have a great 2014!
Our thanks and best wishes,
Janet (Hemingway), Audrey, Barry (Knapp), Justin (Daish) and Rob (Bradford)
