Congratulations Steve - I thought that you did really well on BGT.
There is a awful lot about that show and the panel that I really dislike, so I record it and FF through the boring bits (and there are plenty of them.) It's a bit of a roman gladiatorial bloodbath sometimes, specially when it's uncalled for . . .
I'm sorry they didn't put you through, but I really hope that you get lots of bookings as a result of a good performance on primetime TV.
Regards,
Rod

I don't usually watch crappy TV shows that have the word "celebrity" in the title or are like Britain hasn't got any talent and Factor X idol goes pop, mainly because its very rare for anyone with any real talent to get through to the final stages and those type of really cheap to produce shows seem to be made for people who don't really know how to spend their time more usefully and are likely to enjoy reading about which "C" or "D" list celebrity is marrying, divorcing, sleeping with which other "C" or "D" list celebrity, instead of watching a quality TV show which would either educate, inform or entertain you, and which preferably should do all three. The two ignorant women on the panel wouldn't recognise genuine talent even if it had been Eric Clapton, Peter Green or Hank Marvin playing in front of them. I had heard of the name Amanda Holden before but I didn't know who she was or what she was famous for so I "googled" her and hey, what do you know, apparently she is famous for being a judge on Britain's Got Talent. Wow Steve, I hope you asked her for her autograph before you left The other loser I found out is called Alesha Dixon, I had never heard of her at all, and it turns out she used to be a singer, well it actually said rapper so that means to most people that she has no discernible talent at all, and she is famous for having recently had a baby I have never heard of Simon Cowell being famous for doing anything other than making lots of money out of promoting and inflicting on us crappy TV shows and acts, in fact the only truly talented act I saw that he was involved with was that dancing dog called Pudsey from a few years back. Oh and he is famous for wearing those trousers with the ridiculously high waistbands. David Walliams is the only one of the panel who has any real talent at all as an actual entertainer and from watching the YouTube clip it seems he knew that you were good Steve. I thought you played well, as you usually do, and with a more commercial sound you may have distracted those two silly "Z" list celebrity women enough for them to have had the courtesy of actually listening to what they were presumably being paid a lot of money to listen to, as part of their job description. At least we on the forum realised along with David Walliams and a lot of the TV audience, that you really are a talented guy

Hi all
Thanks for your wonderful comments it does mean a hell of a lot, i believe so much of these shows is setup to how they want to potray it all, i got a standing ovation from the audience so i know i pleased some people at least. Amanda and alesha i was a bit upset by there talking whilst i was performing, ive also had a few emails from people saying my song choice was terrible etc. I chose that song to fulfil a promise to my dad and i did say that in the interviews that they chose to cut. My performance was a tribute to my dad my wind beneath my wings and i very much hope he was proud of it.

Hi Steve, good on you for having the gut's to go on BGT playing an instrumental.
The sad fact is that younger people don't want to hear guitar instrumentals these days, ok, they enjoyed your performance but would they buy the record? and that's what it's all about, a nice fat percentage in Simon C's pocket....now, if you started some rap half way through or had some teenagers jumping about behind you, you'd be in with half a chance!
Phil
PS. I'm sure your dad would have been very proud to see you there!

Steve. I started this thread before I knew the number you chose was a tribute to your dad. I was proud to see one of our guys on the box and even more so because you also did it for your dad. Two reasons to be proud. I don't think the bgt panel gave you a chance. Four people did not appreciate it. Many more did. Well done again Steve George Sent from my GT-I9300 using proboards

I've often wondered how a "Shadows" guitarist would fare on such a show, now we know. They did not even give you a chance. I noticed that they also cut the volume of the guitar to degrade your performance. I've had it with these show's anyway for several reasons.
Good on you for trying Steve. Keep up the good work.
All the best, Duncan.

Hi Steve I caught up with the video on YouTube. Congratulations as you did very well and should be very proud of your performance. You looked very confident too. As Maurice wrote my thoughts are exactly the same as Sandra's. It was great that the very talented David Walliams and the audience appreciated your performance. Once again very well done! Best wishes Rosemary

Hey Steve!
Really thought you did well on your BGT performance even though the majority of the panel don't have a clue about music apart from David. Cowell and the other two ladies who chatted over you were really disrespectful and didn't give you a fair chance. The audience were really on your side though which was great but it was a bit unfair that the guitar volume was low. I did audition for the show a few years ago but it was all really rubbish if I'm honest and wouldn't do it again. Much prefer doing Open Mic Nights.
Well done again Chris

Well done Steve, you had the balls to go on and you played really well. Sound balance wasn't great though. It wouldn't have made much difference what choice of tune was as 3/4 of the panel had made their mind up they weren't going to like it before you even started playing. Apart from David Walliams, none of the others have any performance talent or knowledge worth speaking about and they are unbelievably rude.... Anyway it got you some exposure mate and created a lot of interest...40,000+ hits on you tube in one day!!!

I have just seen & heard your performance Steve.Great sounds though i must say that it was possibly the wrong number. Some years ago i managed to get through the audition to appear on Sky star search,The instrumental that i played on that show was called FEELINGS.I asked the drummer of the in house band to play a heavy third beat. The runthrough in the afternoon was great, when it came to recording the show at around 7pm .......... I had been in the studio all day waiting for my slot on one of the programmes, several programmes were recorded on the same day. To be honest, the sound that i had setup during the run through just wasnt there on the show being recorded. In fact it sounded awful ! Janice Long & Bill Oddy were on the panel & i had to put up with their Dopey comments ! Anyway,i came fifth out of eight on that particular show. I am embarassed to this day for ever going on Sky Star Search particularly with that number,I realised straight away that my instrumental effort definately wouldnt cut it with the other lively acts. It was really ignorant of those two women to chat amongst themselves while you were performing ! Oh well,we are MUCH wiser now, performing like that really isnt the piece of cake that it looks.Well done to you Steve, great sound too. Best wishes & good luck to you. Rick.

just seen in it , now if you would of had a lovely figure, and played the guitar under you neck like a fiddle while doing a backward somersault, on a motor bike you might have impressed the no talent judges, I liked it pal , its a YES from me , only wish i could play like that regards Dave

You done good Steve.i know two acts that got to the finals in previous years, and they told me how much of a con all these shows really are.ie. some acts being measured up for clothes, for the final ..while some acts were not.all this was 24 hrs before the phone vote even started,so they know exactly whose going through and whose not.i could reel off loads more but who cares anyway. The best way to look at it,is youve just showcased yourself on a prime time sat night spot, and can now add to your posters..AS SEEN ON BRITAINS GOT TALENT.Good luck......steve

Pity Sandra wasn't on the panel. Carl Unfortunately Carl even though I don't have a lot of talent, probably much more than the two ignorant women have combined, I don't think that they would have had me on the panel as I must admit to being a lot older than them and not as pleasing on the eye. Having said that if I had their wardrobe and hair and makeup people working on me for a few hours then who knows

Sandra, You have better understanding of music than T-H-E-M two clowns, Perhaps you could have shut them up. I was angry that the studio had turned down Steve's amp to a level that those two idiot's did their best to spoil a good sound. Having said that I still enjoyed Steve's sound. Nice guitar and Amplifier. To repeat my self well done Steve. Regards Carl

Absolutely one hundred percent behind you and your performance. THEY didn't give you a chance. Most of the panel were rude, ignorant and arrogant. Simon above all should realise, without guitar groups and players, he wouldn't have a career(if you can call what he has a CAREER). Well done mate.

Steve,
You played perfectly mate. It was just a pity that there was no judges to judge you (except David Walliams). The pathetic judging panel they use, are only looking for someone in their teens, probably a singer, unkempt and jigging about, that can make Simon lots of ££££. Your performance was spot-on, the judging panel just ignorant. You were very brave to even stand up there. Please don't give them the time of day in the future.
You'll always be our hero.
Best wishes Roger WSGC

Hi Steve, very well done, great performance, a worthy competitor. The panel have shown yet again that talent takes a back seat while they create dumbed down television. They are so up themselves that they seem to have lost their way.

Hi,
I never watch any of this type of TV, period. Never have, Never will. Better things to do with my life ! Given the number of people commenting here I appear to be in the minority. However, thankfully, from the comments passed here, they suggest that my judgement is still sound nevertheless.
I would be interested, however, in seeing Steve's performance (Just Steve .. no-one else please) so that I make sense of what people are saying here. Is there a clip on YouTube or anywhere else ? I couldn't face watching the WHOLE thing on whatever on-line TV repeats programme that they use nowadays.
Cheers,
Ian

Hi again,
OK, just found a YouTube clip on the Shadows' Community site.
What a disgusting, arrogant, and repugnant lot those people are. I felt embarrassed just to watch that short clip. It makes me ashamed to have to declare to others that I am of the same nationality !! What worries me more is the example that they are setting to future generations. No wonder Britain has fallen from one of the most respected nations to one of the most disliked.
I think I have made the right decision to spend most of my time up mountains and away from these people.
It's very upsetting,
Cheers
Ian

Ian, I'm with you all the way, regarding this sort of show. And I'm sure many of the comments in this topic are based, like my own, on the other forum, on the evidence of the YouTube clip and you're not in a minority at all!
