Hi As many members here will know videos of our Shadows Club meetings are published on our website each month Today and yesterday two of our members are unable to view the embedded YouTube videos on our website on their iPads using the latest operating system. I know for sure it's not connected with the website upgrade yesterday as one of the reports was before that happened and I also sent a plain HTML file for testing with only the standard YouTube embedded code and their iPads wouldn't work on that either though one member with the latest operating system said the videos were fine. I would be very very grateful if anyone with an iPad and a couple of minutes would be able to please take a look at one of the videos pages (in the last few months) of videos linked at www.brisbaneshadowsplayers.com/videosand please send me a direct message if a random video did or didn't work and which model iPad and operating system they were using. If there are any solutions or findings I'll post them here but I don't want to clog up Charlie's site with this as it's a bit off topic. I've spent hours tonight searching the web but can't find any definite solution and I don't have an iPad myself. Thanks very much in advance if anyone could help Best wishes Rosemary

HI Rosemary
I updated two iPads with update and have tried the video files on the SWSC site and they are fine, on your site only the sound comes through, but no video.
I've just tried them on my iMac and they are fine!
Hope this helps!
Regards
Gray

Hi Gary Thanks very much for checking. I see you're using the iframe code which is the later YouTube embedded code. Your description of the problem is something I read tonight about an earlier O/S update. I think there was some solution there so will try to look for that again. Best wishes Rosemary

Hi Rosemary, I am able to play the video's fine on my iPhone 5s on iOS 7.0.6 and my MacBook Pro on OSX Mavericks but I am, unable to play them on my iPad Air on iOS 7.0.4. It doesn't seem to like Safari on the iPad. I have found a solution and that is to install google chrome on my iPad air and it works perfectly. I hope this helps Best Wishes Regards Steve B

Hi Steve Thanks very much for your help and for checking. From a few reports received there seem to be quite a few mixed results with different devices and operating systems. It sounds like Google Chrome would be the best solution to try as you suggest and it is after all the standard (but old) YouTube code I'm using so it should be compatible with Google's browser.
I've decided now to also include a direct link to each YouTube video on all new videos pages starting with April's when I build them so that should avoid any problems in the future. Unfortunately we have way too many pages to go back and do that for all of them. Thanks again Best wishes Rosemary

Thanks Steve That's a good idea. I'm receiving reports that the iPads are playing them now but need to do something like that for the future in case it happens again. Best wishes Rosemary
