I've been offering downloads of BTs for original compositions I've posted . I'm now getting requests for TAB to go with them. Can anyone recommend an easy to use programme they use themselves (that's also preferably free ) Baz

I used to use instatab yonks ago, basic and free but there must be better options now. Try googling free tab writing software.

instab is available on Gorans site, scroll down the yellow panel on the left then click on tab, scroll down again till you come to letter Is you'll find it there.
hope this helps.

Instab is great and very easy to use - its big disadvantage is that doesn't show the actual note durations. BUT - if you just want to show where the notes are on your fretboard - Inbstab still does it for me. And if you DL an Instab file and don't have it on your PC, it can be read in Notepad. HTH ian

Hi Baz, I don't know if you've had any luck with the Tab software you were looking for so I thought you may like to look at this www.guitarmaster.co.uk/ I've downloaded it and it seems to work (sort of). It's only the free demo version and it certainly records the sound but when I get the tab the notes are not on the positions I played, maybe I'm doing something wrong. I'm not conversant with music theory so it may be that the set-up is not correct. If you do try it let me know how you get on. 'H'

Baz,
I'm sure its something to do with the settings in the menu but my music knowledge is not good enough to know how to set things up correctly.
I've altered some of the settings and the tab doesn't even match the notes I played, before I changed it the notes were correct but not on the strings I was strings I was playing. Guess I'm getting to old for all this technical stuff.
Take care

I've used Tabledit. It's not free, but it does come with lifetime upgrades. Once you get used to using it you can create complex tabs really quickly. If you supply tabs in Tabledit format, there is a free viewer/player available.
