I have only the shell of a Hofner bass, and would very much like to get it put together, but am in dire need of all the hardware. Any help will be appreciated. You can e-mail me: cellierspierreATgmail.com (replacing AT with @) Thanks.

You can e-mail me: cellierspierreATgmail.com (replacing AT with @) Thanks. Interesting Pierre, When I started to learn bass in 1959 I was given a Hofner Beatle bass. After I joined the band some months later the rest of the band took an instant dislike to my "long necked violin".
After a few gigs, and the band was happy with my playing, they bought me what they considered was a "more conventional" bass out of band profits.
I gave the Hofner bass away to another aspiring bass guitarist, who in turn got the same treatment and he gave it away.
This was all before the Hofner bass became known as a "Beatle" bass.
The one I'm holding in my signature picture is what they bought. It was an EKO. It was only in early 1962 that we all bought Fenders.
Cheers
Viv

Very interesting Viv. Talk about the EKO, that was my very first electric guitar my dad bought me from Bothners and Polliacks in Eloff street in Johannesburg. I think up to then, that was the greatest moment in my life!! 1961 it was.
