Hi guys, I have just been speaking to Derek, of Electromech, what a extremely pleasant and helpful guy. We had a good chat about the new unit, he assured me everything is on track and I should have my Hall and Collins Echo unit in approx 7/8 days from today, but as we know things can change, but even if it takes another fortnight it will be worth waiting for. It is reassuring for me to know that he and his team are there to answer any queries I/we have, I don't think Charlie could have picked anyone better or more qualified To help in the manufacture of the Hall/Collins unit, I for one am an extremely happy chap, looking forward to receiving my new toy, thanks again to Charlie, John and Derek.

Im in total agreement regarding the protection offered by credit card companies and have used this method of payment for years without any problem.
However, I've just been talking to Derek via email and have arranged to pay mine by PayPal confused? It's simple I'm medically retired and at home most of the time. The problem is my wife she's also at home a lot and the days vary week to week. She does not have any interest in my hobby and if she found out that I was paying £600 + for something she would consider a waste of time (each to their own) the divorce proceedings would be instigated immediately. I have therefore asked Derek to send me a PayPal invoice (received) and not use the telephone but use email instead. He has been more than helpful in this. Like a lot of us I don't like PayPal but to save me suffering a very slow death in this instance it has come in handy.
One last point from me Charlie has too good a reputation to use a questionable company. Let's just enjoy the product when it arrives very soon.

Hi Steve, I was on the phone talking to Derek this morning and he is very helpful. I gave him my credit card info and said he would let me know via email when the unit is was shipped. Charlie picked a company who is very nice to the customers. All excited waiting for the email lol. Have a great day. Scott

Hi Scott,
Totally agree with you that Derek is very helpful. Like you I can't wait the excitement is building,
it will be interesting to see how we all review the echo unit once received and tried. I know I'll be dashing upstairs and locking myself away once mine has been delivered.
Take care
Steve

All this positive feedback is starting to feed my impatience and, yes, I admit, frustration...lol Are they working through everyone interested alphabetically or according to a first-come-first-served basis based on the master list as compiled and submitted by Charlie? After I confirmed my intention to purchase, and submitted the requested details, I received an email from Derek (21 April 10:51am) thanking me and stating they would 'be in touch again shortly'. I know it's only 3 days, but I had hoped that I would be placing the order before the weekend. It now seems unlikely I'm guessing that the HCSE units are being manufactured as we speak and folk are being contacted as and when units become available for dispatch. At this stage perhaps a little clarification would be appropriate. This should help alleviate any concerns we may have about possible delays before prospective purchasers are contacted for payment. Regards, Mike (unashamedly admitting to champing at the bit!)

Hi Mike, Electromech are working overtime today and tomorrow to get as many units as possible ready for dispatch on Monday. They are working through my list more or less in the order I gave it to them, although chronologically it is not strictly accurate because I don't really know what I'm doing when it comes to databases! If you don't hear anything today then it shouldn't be too long after before you hear from them. Regards, Charlie

Hi Mike, Just like yourself After ordering, I got a email from Derek on 21st confirming he would get back in touch shortly. I guess the main thing is we have responded within the 5 days they have requested in order to keep the run number allocated to us. I guess we are getting excited and Charlie will always be at hand if there is a problem. Regards Carl.

I live in the USA and sent an email requesting final cost including shipping. Also said I would call them and provide credit card details, rather than have them try and call me.
Got a response back within an hour with costs and phone number. I called this morning and placed my order with my credit card details. I also called my credit card company and gave details of the purchase (as it was an overseas "online" purchase) so there would be no holdup with the credit card online fraud department waiting my confirmation it was a valid purchase.
I am impressed with my interaction with the company.
Just a matter of waiting now for it to arrive.
Mike

Hi Charlie, Thank you Not that I'm complaining, mind. In fact I'm busy rationalising this 'delay' by persuading myself that at least I can enjoy that feeling of eager anticipation for a little while longer than those who are soon to hear their doorbells ring. Ah, life is good......and ain't this fun! Hi Roger, See above... Regards, Mike Reason for Edits: Forum software wouldn't accept the emoticon I really wanted to use in my reply to Roger....he,he!

Hi all
Thanks to all who have responded with regards to their interaction with Derek. He has been reading this forum and so is aware of your comments. We hope the 'personal' approach adds that little bit extra to your purchase rather than just clicking a button and waiting for the post.
As Charlie said we are indeed working overtime to try and get as many of the units out as quickly as possible, but please bear with us as we have a lot to go through and need to make sure we get everything right.
I have a mega busy weekend but will try and get on here and update on progress if I can.

Hi Mike, I'm very sure they don't work the list alphabetical....because my family name starts with two a's. So if they had allocated serial numbers kinda symbiotic with the alphabetical order of the list Charlie provided....I would end up with very low serial numbers I guess.(please don't take me wrong I'm not complaining at all Now I'm allocated with two serial numbers with 3 digits.....same with early entries late entries on the list. So I haven't a clue how they allocated the serial numbers, probably randomly, because both serial numbers I got are 15 numbers apart and not following each other... That randomly allocating is in my view a smart way to work, because it rules out people's taste, ego's, location, fame etc.... So no "I'm a pro muzo" or I'm semi famous" or I'm a friend" or "Brits first" or something else people come up with to claim or wanted or beg for a certain number. I'm always puzzled by the fact people claimed "It's a low serial number" or "It's one of the first 50 or 100" or also a nice one "It's one of the last ones made" So in there view higher in value or in there mind the position in live is better then someone's else's..... In guitars it wont work because every guitar is different and in the case of the HCSE they are al the same.... Serial numbers says nothing about the order they roll of the workbench or belt, It's only mend as a indication for the factory how many build or when needed service so they can re-run what and why something happened. A nice sample is the 2004 Anniversary Marvin's...the neck pocket change was done later in production but not at a certain serial number, because we see lower serial numbers with the new neck attachment and higher with the old vintage correct neck pocket. The serial numbers where mounted in Britain randomly on a large shipment... Cheers Rob

Hi Charlie, I don't know if this question has been asked before: is there a limit on the quantity of the production of your unit? I am asking this because I haven't raised the funds (yet) to achieve one today. Presuming I have gathered enough savings say in a year or so, will the Echo Unit still be available by then or do I have to start looking for a secondhand one (as if that would be easy, who would want to sell his/her Holy Grail) ? And if I suddenly would win the lottery can I order straight from the manufacturer or do I contact you first?
Regards, Robin

Hi Robin, Thanks for your question. It looks like more than half of the first batch are already spoken for, and I think they will all be sold quite quickly. If the factory thinks there is enough demand (and I hope there will be as we are planning to get the unit reviewed) then there should certainly be more batches made. If or when you decide you want one you can just order from the factory. Regards, Charlie

Hello Charlie
I have given my details in reply to the e-mail received & have been told I will be contacted next week for payment, looking forward to receiving it, my power supply for my pedals is a Decibel eleven, it has a 12v outlet at 400mA, I notice from the pictures of your unit that it has a supply of 12v & 1A, I'm not very knowledgeable about these things, would my supply be ok or would you recommend a different power supply?
Regards Alan

Hi Alan, For the Hall & Collins Signature Echo you must use the power supply that comes with it. It is a 12 volt AC 1 amp supply. Your power supply might not even be AC. Regards, Charlie

Hi Charlie, A friend of mine...(who I try to turn towards a HCSE, so I send him a copy of the pdf manual)ask me about the power supply...especially the order to make connection to the mains... In the manual is written first in the mains power socket then plug in at the HCSE... My friend told me that's not save,(he stated) you can get a spark when you first enter the + tip thru the - "channel" of the socket... Better is to plug in the lead at the unit side first and then secondly plug the power supply in the mains socket... So now I'm puzzled..... So advice needed here please.
Cheers Rob

Rob, you would never (or shouldn't have) the plug in the live mains connection before inserting the power cable/psu into the unit. Surely you would insert the pin of the power cable/psu into the unit and then plug the 'plug into the mains power and switch on. There would be no spark if you did it that way and I've never done it any other way in the past, so maybe a little misunderstanding, although Charlie will keep you right.

it is only a 12v power supply so any spark as you plug the unit in wont give you any pinch id imagine but of course as Alan says you should always plug in to the unit first then the wall

Every time I've used it or any other pedal I always connect the power supply to the mains first and then to the pedal. I don't think it really matters though. There is going to be a small spark no matter what you do, so in a gas filled room as highlighted in the safety advert on TV a few years ago, you do not connect or switch on anything. Of course, in a safe environment, you can connect everything to a socket that is switched off, and then switch it on after everything is connected. Then any spark will be at the switch itself. Regards, Charlie
