Telstar is a number that I have played in our/my act for the last forty years and it never fails to go down well. One thing I would say though, as it's a 'classic' I would recommend strongly sticking to the original arrangement of the Tornados, as I did once change it to the Shads version and it never worked well, people thought I couldn't play it properly and I soon changed back to the 'proper' version . For me it's so well known that it's written in stone as far as audiences of our generation are concerned, a bit like 'Apache' as it's so recognisable.

Hi Localhero, I`ve been playing the Shads version of Telstar for a while now and I just had a listen to the original Tornadoes version which is played mostly on a keyboard. When you say that you stick to the original arrangement, do you mean that you use a keyboard as well or is it substituted for a guitar?
I`m not going to be of any help to your question driftin as I have a different setup to what you have but I also read the thread on the Caline EQ and bought one myself. It hasn`t arrived yet because it`s coming from Bandline UK so it`s go a long way to go but it looks like good value for money. Looking forward to receiving it.
Regards
Adrian

Hi Les, here is my version of Telstar in the style of The Tornados, I too much prefer this to The Shadows version. I always thought they took a good tune and messed it up.... If you want the BT let me know... Cheers, Jim soundcloud.com/shadoogie/telstar

Regards Adrian No Adrian I meant play it on the guitar but stick to the Tordados arrangement. My apologies if you were mis-led. What I meant was that it didn't need the ' X Factor' obligatory key change. i've posted my recording of Telstar in the SOUND FILES section to show you what I mean, it's the demo from my LEAD 5 backing track CD.
