Hi Phil
Super guitars I had a 6120 and loved it.
Are you keeping the original pickups or going for some TV Jones?
Apache sounds great on a Gretsch, hope to hear the guitar very soon.

That's a beautiful work of art. I recently sold my Gretsch Brian Setzer 6120 tiger stripe green, now you're making me miss it. Always liked the white/gold look of the White Falcon.

Hi Phil, It's a real beauty and I bet you were like a kid at christmas opening that box I look forward to hearing the sounds you create with it. It's almost as good as my Epiphone copy of the Falcon Kevin

Thanks all for your interest and comments. After setting up the action, (the nut slots were twice too high) I finally got to plug it in, and now I can say that I am 101% sure that Nivram was played on a Gretsch It's a bit strange to get into after my other guitars, but it sounds wonderful Phil PS Nivram to follow later after the headache has gone from the celebratory red

Congrats Phil. Beautiful pair - Aphrodite and the Falcon Looking forward to hear the guitar in action. Nivram obviously - but after that maybe try Charlie's thoughts about a 2 pickup sound on 342634? I notice the short black tip on the Bigsby arm. I know Duo Jets arms had'em - in the usual Burns shape, but I can't recall seeing a tip on B6 types? Erik

Great looking guitar Phil, I have a 6120 which is very similar and they are totally different to Strats' in feel and everything else, but once you get familiar they are great to play. Erik, the black tip on the trem was also on my recent Guild Starfire Bigsby unit and in my case it was for packing purposes and easily removed.

Yes Erik, 36.24.36 is planned, as I mentioned I had a quick plug-in last night with the ef86 channel and the Goodmans Audiom 60 speaker, the Nivram sound was there and without any post eqing, this was with both pickups. The black end to the tremolo arm is a plastic slip on, it's easily removed, but what I don't like is the limited horizontal movement, if it wasn't gold plated I would adapt it. EDIT Cross post with Robbo Phil

No problem Phil, I posted a clip of a friend of mine with his White Falcon to give folks an idea of how they can sound. It's in the sound files for all section.

Relieved the ugly plastic tip is just a protection slip on. Get it off Phil please Erik

Yes it's ugly but the truth is that it feels better to hold than the bare arm, actually it's not just a protective piece as it is shaped with a sort of bulbous end to help you grip it better, mine trem arm has a little rubber disk fixed to it underneath at the end and that's not too comfortable!

Hello Phil - a stunning guitar!
Talking about the limited horizontal movement of the Bigsby I know exactly how you feel. I have a couple of guitars fitted with Bigsbys - the Gretsch Duo Jet doesn't cause a problem but on the other guitar (a DeArmond T400) I was so frustrated with the restricted movement that I simply filed off the offending metal and polished it to match the rest of the metal.
However, I can see that doing that on your gold-plated vibrato would not be an option.
I find it difficult to see why Bigsby feature that metal stop piece.

Hi Phil, Lovely guitar. I don't know if it's just me but I like the look of the single cut Gretsches much better than the double cut models. I have the same problem with the Bigsby's limited movement on my 6120-1957W. I already ground a lot of metal away but it needs more taken off yet. I realise that isn't an option on yours but maybe different parts can be found at some later time? Regards, Charlie

Yes there are hinge sections available without the stop.

I solved the Bigsby 'stop' problem by getting a 'Chet ' arm, which allows the arm to travel across over the strings same as a Strat..

I assume that's a different unit as the restriction on the Bigsby is on the hinge section and not the arm.

Hello like I suggested to Phil, the only option is to replace the hinge with "Bigsby Arm-Duane Eddy-Gold Swing Away with Hinge"...see link www.angela.com/gretschduaneeddybigsbygoldvibratoarmandhinge.aspxI mean to replace only the hinge, infact in this model the metallic stop is on the arm, so it's easy to substitute it without problem and obtain a tremolo arm free to swing up and down ...the only problem is to spend a lot of money for a complete DE Bigsby Arm set, unforunately is not easy to find the single hinge part...especially this model and gold plated the suggestion of localhero is also very good Best Wishes Sal

Hi Phil yes, I understand there is this...but unfortunately is not gold plated www.the well known auction site.it/itm/Gretsch-Bigsby-Vibrato-Aluminum-Hinge-B6-B3-B7-Stationary-Ear-for-White-Falcon-/130683414985 anyway...maybe the best solution is to learn to to play with the arm of the factory, without problems Ciao Sal

I can adapt Sal There is another way around this but I won't be doing it as spare time is already a limitation. I could remove the stop part and then inlay that part with 24k gold which the plating probably is, and when polished it would blend in perfectly. Phil

Hi Phil yes...is a solution, although,I'd prefer to not touch the original parts from the factory...but is my personality in the past when I have made modifications, restoring, etc...I always worked on new replacement parts and saved the original parts, just to have the originals. anyway...is important you enjoy with new guitar and play good music to share with members and friends of this site, included me, of course Ciao Sal
