Hi Mike, I did add it to the list but was waiting to add some more titles. I'll email you the version I currently have. However, most likely when uploaded to the Hall & Collins site it will differ with more additions. Regards, Charlie

Hi Anthony, Try P44 for the doubling effect. The double track parts were recorded with distortion separately so you could have trouble getting close enough, it depends how exact you want it to be of course! Regards, Charlie

Hi Charlie, Can you advice me on a HCSE patch that is similar to the Jazz room on the Q20 was patch 0-08. I am trying to liven up a dry sound Without too much Reverb. Regards Carl.

Thanks Charlie, I can work with both those patches with lower echo level setting. I am happy with P48. Been playing Latin and Jazz numbers through an acoustic channel and needed a soft Reverb to liven the dry sound. I now can work with these patches. Just shows how universal the HCSE is. Best Regards Carl.

Hi Charlie,
Any idea witch patch for Cliff and The Shads version of Unchained Melody.....it sounds to me very nice and bitt "gritty" and "dirty" so maybe a little fiddling with the knobs is needed perhaps?
Thanks and cheers Rob

Hi Rob, It is the patch which has in the name ECHOREC 4, a simple single head delay. Use more feedback if necessary. Also you might want to set more Drive and maybe a little less Echo Level. Sorry that I do not remember the actual patch number as I am currently away from my unit. Regards, Charlie

Hi Charlie
Thank you very much for your recomendation for this patch....I'll sort it out so no worries about the patch number ;P So just a single head delay....it sounds so "spaceous" like there is a kinda Abbey Road reverb chamber involved also on Hanks part alongside Cliff's voice....
Cheers Rob

Hi Rob, Not sure if there is reverb added to the sound, there could be. I think it's a perfect example of Hank's Expertise in playing an echo sound to his advantage! It will be interesting to know how well it works for you. Regards, Charlie

Hi Charlie, Well it works for me P47 that is.... Amazingly just one head can sound so nice! A lot is helped by the way Hank use the tremelo arm...that makes a diffrence for sure. You can keep sustaining notes in the echo sound a lot more then without the tremelo... Thanks again Charlie!!! Cheers Rob

Hi Rob, Thanks for your follow up post. I agree about using the tremolo adding sustain but I don't know why! Regards, Charlie

Good morning Charlie, thank you for your kind reply and help with my query, I will try that out for sure. I am very pleased with the Hall & Collins, I tried it out for the first time at a Gig last week, 'superb' and the comments I received from folks who don't normally comment on such things, was well received. It is a great machine, thanks for all the hard work you put into it. cheers Peter

Hi fender1946, Jimmy Wilsey is said to have used a Binson Echorec. Try P47 and P50. See which you like best. Regards, Charlie

Thank you, what about the bass sound on Kon-Tiki? What echonumber for that?

Post by Charlie Hall on Nov 10, 2017 15:56:02 GMT
Hi fender1946, Jet didn't use echo on Kon-Tiki. That effect was studio reverb. You could try P09 or P11 as the echo sounds on those are most like reverb. Regards, Charlie

Thank you Charlie, I am going to play Jet`s "Diamonds" on a Fender Bass VI, any tips for settings on the H&C, as well as amp and Bass VI settings?

Hi fender1946, Try P09 for the H & C, neck and bridge pickups together, can't give amp settings except you probably don't want to overdo the bass. Regards, Charlie

Thank you Charlie, I guess Jet is using the Mute on his Jaguar on the original version?

I don't know if Jet used the mute as the response from the notes seems too even. It sounds like flatwound strings to me. Regards, Charlie

Which would be the best patches please for the Knopfler tunes Going Home (the intro sounds a bit like a violin..volume pedal?) and The Long Road?...oh and while I am asking I could not find Diamonds on the list. Many thanks.

Post by Charlie Hall on Dec 6, 2017 15:57:45 GMT
Hi paulws, Try P09 for Going Home and P46 for The Long Road. You need a volume pedal for the violin swells, and there is also a chorus effect on The Long Road. Use P09 for Diamonds. Regards, Charlie

I'm now not sure if you meant Hank's version rather than Mark Knopfler's original of Going Home. If so, use P39 instead of P09. Regards, Charlie
