I'd like some feedback on the chords played in two sections of WL. Firstly the opening riff where I play G to Dm (played in the F shape with your little finger on the d on the second string). Music sheets say G to F. Secondly, in the section following the intro in the bit that's only played once there's a place where the music sheets go from Dm to Fm and then to C and Em before commencing the main tune again. For Dm and Fm I've been playing Fm and Bb9 (played across the 1st fret) then on to C and Em. Any comments please.

Hi, I don't go by music sheets, only by ear, and the intro chords are simply G and F. The other part is Dm Fm then Em, there is no Bb9 or C there. www.youtube.com/watch?v=4j9fJbkzheYRegards, Charlie

Hi Mike. Thanks for the reply. my email is ken.adkinAThotmail.co.uk (replacing AT with @). Already had a reply from Charlie Hall and appears I'm playing the wrong chords. But that Bb9th sounds really sweet. Cheers, ken

Thanks Charlie. Don't completely trust sheet music myself but that Bb9th sounds really sweet to me. Try it. Cheers, ken.

The Bb9 WOULD sound OK depending on how you played it. The only real difference in first inversion (as you play it) is that the Fm has the F note (4th string 3rd fret) and the Bb9 is the same notes on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd strings but the 4th string is left open to ring as a D. Ian

Hi Ian, Yes you're right the Bb9 does have that open D in it. However the lead solo does follow the 1st 2nd and 3rd string notes of the Bb9 before going to a G note (where I play a C and then an Em). I can't get my ears round that Dm before the Fm though, it just doesn't seem to sound right. Having just watched an old black and white shads vid on you tube I have to accept that I'm wrong. Bruce is clearly seem playing the chords I'm disputing. Thanks for your contribution. I think I need to practice more!! Ken

Don't worry Tommy Emmanual didn't know the chords got Bruce to help him out. G & F are the intro then it goes G D F Dm C Am C Am F Dm Bb G C Em C F Dm C G Dm Fm Em for the verse. The muted bit is is C Em F G twice the C G F G Em www.youtube.com/watch?v=lV9IVbe-SK0Matthew
