imgBB is very good but it seems to restrict the posting size, I haven't yet found a way of filling a forum posting area with a picture, unless I'm missing something?

That's what I mean Ian, it's not a full image in that it doesn't fill the page, although, I notice my picture is slightly larger than yours. Phil

Mmh, I see what you mean. But its pretty big! It might depend on the jpeg - mine might have been cropped- cant remember. And what a beautiful piece of engraved art on that shotgun. Superb! Ian

Hi Ian and Phil, Just as a matter of interest .. Proboards is set to reduce the width of large images to fit within the posting width.
So what you see depends on the actual size of the image as well as the screen resolution and size you are using to view it on Proboards. You can see this by making sure the browser window is not full screen and resizing the window. You should see the image shrink or grow depending on the window width.
I don't know about ImgBB but you might also check to see if they reduce the size and quality of images before storing them. Google Photos does this when giving unlimited storage.
Cheers George

Hi George,
I have been posting pictures on many other forums for more years than I care to remember, the sad part is that just about all of my pictures......hundreds, are now, not viewable, I have nearly always used between 800 to 2500 pixels wide, this has always filled the posting area, i.e. side to side.
I might be missing something but as far as I am aware, imgBB is not so user friendly as things like "my profile, accounts and setting din't seem to be available ?

Hi Phil, What Photobucket has done is just disgusting. Imagine all the millions of pictures embedded on sites and forums often forming part of the forum look, that now are replaced with that 3rd party image.
Had a quick look at imgBB. It certainly is minimalist ! Couldn'r find any information about what they do with pictures.
Using the guest facility, I uploaded a 6.5 MB, 4608 x 2592, 24 bit colour picture which took a long time to upload. Using the supplied embed link it reduced this to 640 x 360 about 80 Kb ... a pretty dramatic reduction in quality and size. There was an option to download the original 6.5 MB picture but again this took so long I gave up.
Why not look at Imgur which seems to be close to the top of recommended free hosting sites in most reviews. However, there is no guarantee that Imgur or any of the free sites won't pull the plug in the future ... like Photobucket.
In your case of posting pics that are important, it would be worthwhile finding a reasonable Internet Hosting company for your own domain with storage to host the pictures yourself. The costs are quite reasonable these days and for pictures there is no need even to bother with a web site. I have one that also handles emails and costs about $40 a year.
Regards George

Hi George, A few years ago, if you uploaded a large picture to PB it would post it large, I have done this to show detail, in fact the picture when posted was at least twice the size of the forum posts viewing area! PB later, cropped the images but they still filled the page. imgBB works fine, that's not to say that other image sharers are not better, I will give Imgur a check out. As setting up my own domain, no reason to really, I don't even have my own website Phil

Hi Phil, There is another option to display large pictures but with scroll bars. In most cases, this is fairly clumsy and not a good method.
Currently if you click on the picture it should open in a new page at the full linked size.
Your own domain for picture storage is a good idea if you want to make sure your embedded pictures won't suddenly disappear like they did with Photobucket ! Otherwise no need.
Cheers George

I have deleted my PhotoBucket pics (there weren't many at all), then the account itself (although it will be 2 days before it will be gone for good). I can't be bothered with uploading pics any more. My avatar remains as I believe it was uploaded direct to ProBoards.

Phil Hi Phil, "Model Railway Forum" ?? These people understand about DETAILS ! Nothing would be displayed without careful notes on where it came from ! Then a simple matter to download from PB the images and store them on their Forum servers. Obviously they don't use the free edition of Proboards. Cheers George

Hi George,
It seems that all my PB pictures once posted are sent automatically to my Photo Gallery under a new format...so saved!
