On the last gig this problem came up with my YMS.The device works but letters on the screen are blended and sometimes they are only straight dashes,I tried to reset but this operation does not work.I guess the screen will need to be replaced but I'm not sure about it so any advice would be of great help.In advance thank you for your help.
Best Regards! Toni

Thank you, Keith,I think I found some answers.I'm just not sure if this screen will fit my YMS model and whether I need to take some other parts that are needed for customization such as resistors, transistors or something else. Here I found it; www.the well known auction site.com/itm/200659769398 Best Regards! Toni

Toni, you might also want to check out this thread if you want to prevent the same problem to happen to the LCD screen of your MS in the future: charliehall.proboards.com/thread/19716/air-cooled-magicstompAlso, replacing the LCD display is not an easy task (especially desoldering the old LCD), you have to have solid soldering skills, if you happen to not have that, you might want to pass the task of replacement to someone in your neighborhood, who does. Cheers, Geza

Thank you Geza, I ordered a few pieces but if the same failure is repeated in the future this will be a very useful advice.I guess there will be no problem with soldering because my brother is in charge of maintaining the equipment since he is an electrician and possesses all the necessary tools and experience.

Hi Tony. I had the same problem and as a result the stomp will not work when screen failure just a blank screen. however I do have spare screens as pointed out its a tricky job but it works like a charm..there are 16 little pins to unsolder best way is to use de soldering tape comes on a roll looks like copper braided wire. then a very sharp pointed soldering iron. also had the same problem with my quadraverb but that one is very easy to do less then ten mins. have screens for them too. however they came as cool blue and white text. very nice. regards Lou

Hi Toni, You might have to do some searching on TWKAS because you will make life much easier if you acquire an old 162 module rather than the newer 1602 (look for "JHD162A"). It will mean that you don't have to add or remove resistors. Be sure to get a Yellow/Green (Y/YG) rather than Blue or Red. Also the pins on the LCD are standard but the dimensions of the screen aren't -- so you will almost certainly have to do some filing to modify the MStomp casing. Go to: shadowmusic.bdme.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=13333 for some more info, and it will lead you back to: charliehall.proboards.com/thread/12914/magicstomp-display-failureRegards, DaveC

Thanks Jim,good advice but that would mean that the pedal steel guitar should be forgotten for some time.I have been dreaming about this instrument for years already and now it is time for this dream to become a reality so that I can not afford other things which would interfere with this plan.
Best Regards! Toni

Thank you Jim for your nice wishes,although I have to note that it is not easy to find a decent D10 PSG in Europe at an acceptable price which will not need to be serviced later after a short time.I also hope that my quest will end successfully and that in the end I will not be sorry for the money spent.
Best Regards! Toni

I did not rush with the purchase but a few months later, everything is here,pedal steel guitar and screens.I bought a newer 1602 model that will need customization so I would ask for your help about it,where and what value of the resistor should be added?I thank you in advance for your help.
Best Regards! Toni

Maybe I should be more precise when I asked the question so I'll try to be that.On this page;
shadowmusic.bdme.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=13333
I have read the information on the need of added resistors to the power supply (pins 1 and 2), the contrast (pin 3) and the backlight (pins 15 and 16) so i'm interested in what value the resistor needs to be added.
Best Regards! Toni
