Hi Phil
Movie maker or iMovie is free on either windows or mac and simple easy to use
For more flexibility an older version of powerdirector for pc can be sourced free

I have 8mm film of my old bands which I hope to record to digital, but I need a good but simple editor, any ideas please? Phil How`s it going Phil. I`ve got rolls and rolls of super 8 film which I would love to record to digital but the only way I`ve been able to find out how to do it is to get it done professionally which costs a fortune although I`ve heard of people projecting it onto a wall and then filming it with a video camera but I can`t see how the result would be of any decent quality and I`m thinking that you would probably hear the noise of the projector in the recording as well so, I just wanted to ask if you know of a way to do it yourself. Regards Adrian

Hi Adrian,
I've just downloaded Movie Maker 10, it looks easy enough to work with, my films have no sound but there is probably a way in MM to cut the projector noise, we shall see.
Copying the projected film with a video camera works good, I've done it before many years ago and transfered it to video tape.

Thanks for the reply Phil.
I wouldn`t of thought that it would work out very well recording it with a video camera but obviously you`ve tried it and it looks like you`re happy with it so I`ll give it a try.
Cheers
Adrian

load film into movie maker...then turn the master volume right down ,then save..should have a video with no sound .. then load again and add any sound track you want
