Hi All Hope you can help I have a vox ac 15 valve amp that I have not used for At least 3 years And last night I fired it up I waited on stand by for about 10 minutes and then plugged in
It was very intermittentl at first and then it was ok
My question is was it just the valves warming up or do the valves need replacing
Thank you so much Glen

Hi Glen, That doesn't sound to me like faulty valves, unless any of the valve pins need cleaning. See how it goes the next few times you switch it on. Regards, Charlie

Probably a bit of contact cleaner spray in the Jack sockets might help after standing for a long time. Disconnect from mains and spray sockets then push Jack in and out several times.

Hi Glen, I've always followed the Laney instructions for my Lionheart L5T-112, this is to only have it in standby for 30 to 60 seconds, if you read the link below there appears to be some good logic to this: www.valvewizard.co.uk/standby.htmlI must admit I always found it slightly confusing, it doesn't give warm up times in the instructions, it just says it disconnects the HT voltage to keep the valves warm for short periods when not playing. I had to search the Laney website to get the recommendation for correct initial and off warm up times, this does seem to relate to what is said in the link. Regards Gary
