Geoff has put out some amazing tracks - some of which show what our dear old Mr Marvin could be doing with dramatic lesser known covers. So Geoff how about BT's for 'Mohicans', Copperhead' etc - worth paying for!!

I'm not usually a fan of new takes on old classics but this one is excellent. The backing is fresh but the feel and arrangement of the lead guitar stays pretty well faithful to the original. What a great Strat sound and it's not even a Strat! I think it's a G&L Legacy.

Its POSSIBLY a Peter Korving BT, and if it is, its at Leos Den - look for Volume 8. . Ian

I'm surprised nobody's commented on the tempo,it's very slow. Quite so, Gary. But I like the Freshness of it and the "punch" so I'd give it a bit of a Gee-Up in my DAW if I had it. But thats just me.

I hope people aren't focussing just on Geoff's 'Apache' !?
If so try these from him :-
Copperhead Road Last Of The Mohicans When You Walk In The Room Rip It Up Song Of The Lonely Mountain The Story 'Til The Rivers Run Dry etc etc
Fantastic stuff for us instrumentally starved old timers!

I agree with 6CH, I love the extra sounds and the mix and fullness of the sound in this BT, and the guitar is perfect ... but it just drags soooo slow to me.

Hi ,it was created by a man called John Stallard, and he has a web site for his studio ,Cubby Hole Studios. He told me that there was going to be an arrangement where the track was sold by Leos Den .As an aside,he was recording another track with the same player, which is on the cubby hole site,an arrangement of a Justin Hayward track. If you come to Warwick Shadows Club,John is a member there, and John does preview some of his projects on there site,Strat21 Geg Palmer

By the way - there is a free utility I have used which does a very good job of changing the tempo of an audio file without changing the pitch. It is called "TempoChanger" and you can download it from the website at: audiotrimmer.com I hope it's okay that I post this link, but maybe others might also find this useful, and it is free. I have other BTs which I thought were just too slow for my taste, and using this utility I could speed them up to a more lively and suitable tempo, and they still stayed exactly in tune - I think it's some kind of magic.

Magic, indeed. I kept the ancient Adobe Audition 1.5 on my old XP drive when I went up to Win7 and that does a great job. But I'll check that Tempochanger out for my Win7. Thanks for the Heads Up. Geoffs version of 'Whiter shade of Pale' is stunning, and the BT is brilliant. Does anyone know if this is available? Regards John

Re: changing tempo and key of BTs Wort mentioning that the free/shareware program Audacity has these facilities built in. You can alter the tempo without changing the key, and also alter the key of a BT without changing the tempo. Really useful facilities. Simply import your BT into Audacity, and save your working copy with a new name to protect your original BT. Select (shade) your new track and select "effects" in Audacity's menu. There are many effects to choose from including tempo change and key change (transpose). Make your choice and review the results. If you are happy, save the new audacity file. You can then "export audio" to your preferred file format for BT use. Hope this is of some use. Audacity has some cool facilities that repay a bit of study, and what'd more, it's free. Regards Geoff

I do find that if you change the tempo in Audacity it does degrade the track quite a bit. I have started using 'Conversion-tool.com' for tempo or pitch change which I find so much better. I have put the link below. regards Roger www.conversion-tool.com/pitch/

I have put the link below. regards Roger www.conversion-tool.com/pitch/Hi Roger, I use Audacity fairly often to change tempo both for sections of a track and full tracks and have never found any noticeable change in quality. Changing key more than a couple of semi tones however can degrade the quality markedly depending on the original but is usually OK for small changes. Audacity has two built-in effects for changing both tempo and pitch but the best one is the "sliding stretch" which according to Audacity uses a better algorithm than the stand alone Change tempo effect. It also allows you to vary the starting and ending tempo, for example for a section that slows down, then resumes at normal tempo. manual.audacityteam.org/man/sliding_stretch.htmlAs with all audio editing it depends on the quality of the original and if you are changing an existing MP3 don't forget that the MP3 will be converted to floating point Wav format for the editing then re-transcoded if saved back to an MP3, each time degrading the quality a little more. Regards George

Hi George, Thanks for that. I must admit that I have been quite 'Heavy handed' when trying to use Audacity for either tempo or pitch changes so have assumed that it couldnt do it to an acceptable standard. I will revisit Audacity and try your suggested way. Thank you for the advice.
kind regards Roger
