Not bragging or anything, but we are currently on hols in Fuerteventura and tonight in local bar I heard a version of one of my fave Shadows tunes - ATLANTIS - that I didnt recognise. Not that that means anything. Lol. It WAS The Shads or a very very good copy, unmistakable honking guitar tone and playing style. But there were NO backing strings and NO backing vocals - just the 3 guitars and drums. If its a help I thought the muted sections quite low in the mix and right at the end Hank makes a minor fluff in the Outro. Is there an alternative mix or version of it that fits those observations? Bar owner no help. The CD had no label Cheers Ian

There's an undubbed version on "Shadows at Abbey Road" which I think is the single version minus strings.

Hello Ian,
Corr, I wish all my minor fluffs were so unnoticeable!!! Lol.
Of course we will never know if that was a slight change he intended to play or whether it was an amazing recovery.
Glad to hear you are enjoying your holiday.
Cheers.
Mick

Hi Ian This is a great version of one of my favourite tunes. The recording is very clean and uncluttered and if you listen on headphones you can hear a lot more detail.

Indeed Mick. We will never know - but I like it. Alan - I heard it banging out of a bar's 'lo-fi' system so no chance for a 'proper' listen. When we get home -. I find it oddly amusing that the Shads track I should hear 2000 miles from home and in such a low key place would be a 'rarity'. Ian

The start or dream lover byMariah Carey the notes are exactly the same as Wonderful Land a wonder Jerry Lordans family didn’t sue ? youtu.be/CqBtS6BIP1EMatthew I very much doubt it was intentional, just a happy accident. It must be hard to come up with something truly original these days. Most composers are influenced by those that have gone before and, perhaps inevitably, familiar musical phrases will appear from the subconscious musical mind from time to time. They may not even realise it has happened until someone points it out. Anyway, I see it more as a tribute than something deemed to be an act of deliberate plagiarism. Also, I’m not sure why this has appeared in a thread about ‘Atlantis’? The topic was about the presentation of a version of this tune by the same composer and artist. Regards, Mike
