It's Robbie Januarsa, he's a member of this forum, but I haven't seen one of his posts for a while.

I subscribed to Robbie's YouTube channel some years ago. he's done a few vocals as well. His backing tracks are very good too. 'H'

What’s he playing through? I thought I was listening to actual recordings, I think even Hank would struggle to sound that close these days Matthew

Hi Matthew,
Robby does occasionally describe his equipment. If you scan through the comments on his Shadoogie post he says:
Hi Steve, Thanks for for watching and I'm glad you liked it. Sure. Guitar: Strat with Brason neck, brand new D'addario Flatwound Strings 12-52, TVS3 for Echo, Vox Tonelab amp sim, UAD EQ (Low cut) and Reverb for ambience - Abbey Road style. That's about it mate. Message me on FB if you want to have a chat, I'll be happy to discuss more.
Paul.

Hi Paul I had a look all I could see he mentioned he used heavy string and TVS echo, not sure what amp or sims he’s using but they are the best I’ve heard. Maybe that’s something you and or Charlie could work on an amp sim pedal for instant Hank sound for different periods Matthew

Hi Matthew maybe this will answer some of you questions. www.youtube.com/watch?v=-NZYvPwQ0jgLove the idea of an instant Hank pedal. One thing I will say it that if anyone went to Hanks home and used his set-up I doubt many would still be able to play like Hank. I know I couldn't cos I'm left handed, but seriously there's so much that comes from Hanks technique. 'H'

That’s certainly true, he certainly has Hanks touch, I could play through the exact same gear and sound nothing like that Matt

Hi Matthew,
As explained in the YouTube video (above) and his reply to Steve, he uses an old Vox Tonelab as the amp sim and a bit of equalization. I understand that he generally uses his TVS3 for Shadows tunes and the Long Tom for many others. However, as you say, the playing style is just as important as the equipment, if not more so, and so a "Hank pedal" by itself still wouldn't guarantee "That Sound".
Paul.

Thanks very much for that link. Robbie is a really top player and this is a brilliant reference video for those tricky bits that I for one struggle with. Best wishes Rosemary
