So sad to read about Len's passing. Like so many here I never actually 'knew' him but always appreciated his kind comments and remarks. Rest ye well, Len

That was excellent. Thank you for posting. Did you use a Burns or use an EQ trick to get the tone? Bests Ian

I should have known better!! Bought a set of Elixir acoustic strings in January from a well known music shop via that well known auction site. Came to use them today. Fake as the Mona Lisa I painted over the weekend. Just generic, horrid, very cheap and nasty fakes! Packaging looks absolutely right so never gave it a thought until I tensioned them up. OMG!! They MUST know they are flogging fakes but so far no response from them. Fooled me once - more fool me. Folks - if It looks too cheap - it IS too cheap. Bests Ian

Thanks Alan and Tone forvthe clear up. Hi Tolo, Val and I were cRow 7 and more or less central. I took a pic of the Stage pre-gig with the white Burns crntre stage under a single spot. A fun Shads leg pull. Remember that in Guitar Tango, Bruce got carried away and popped in an extra 'verse: Picked up brilliantly by Hank and Brian. HBM wagged a 'naughty finger at Bruce - but with a big grin. Ah memories. Bests Ian

Sky Arts last night (Saturday) not only ran a very good Hollies documentary but also The Shadows 'Final Tour'(which it wasn't of course . I was there at the start of the 2004 run and at the Birmingham NIA for, allegedly, the final, final one in 2005 and enjoyed it all over again. BUT - now and then something was definitely wrong with the recorded sound - Overpeaking? Clipping? A sound desk feed issue? Lousy copy being broadcast? Is it just me?? Anyone know? Secondary question - Hank uses 2 Strats, one with Easimute trem, that looks like an HBM 40th Anniversary?? Anyone know why he changed over now and again? And what was the second one? Bests Ian

Absolutely delightful, Nick. Superb playing, almost sounds like a lap steel because of clever use of pedal. Loved the hybrid picking and split pup tone. Bests Ian

Another 'Parts Bin' series. Can't see how these Strats remotely look JV, nor is the Tech Spec representative. A case of trying to stimulate Sales in a saturated market?

Hi I wanted a totally independent 95bpm track to try and calibrate my DAW as it were. Put it in as Track 1 and record a tap a guitar note on each beat and see the displacement. You are right that I dd have two soundcards but I've never got the Fx to work properly even with latest drivers so it's disabled now. I THINK its a processor thing. By chance I discovered on Saturday when trying a recording that the transit bar you see when recording doesn't always 'flow' smoothly at the same rate across the screen. That seems to tie in with the wavs (BT tracks) which never go out of whack with each other with the incoming Analogue guitar signal which does. The change in transit bar movement seems to coincide with the points at which the guitar timing is wonky. I have to remember that this PC was handbuilt some 15 yrs ago with I guess the only available processors/masterboard ofvthe time. Perhaps today they'd have much more 'grunt'. I may have to live with it. Sigh. But I wonder why it is that this issue came in after years of service. Bests Ian

Just had a look at the docs and are the metronome controls the A B C buttons on end of transpport bar? Mike. Hi Mike Yes but I wanted an INDEPENDENT track so I can try and see WHAT is going out - the digital WAVs on the BT or my analogue guitar input? Bests Ian Hi Roger that would be most kind. ianplant8(at)gmail.com I really want to nail the reason why they dont still line up after a few seconds. Example - I can run a guitar track in to the BT and be on time. Im not THAT bad! But the playback progressively goes out so that by 60 secs I can be a whole quarter note equivalent early on the beat. And its not constant either - it wanders. ATM I'm resigned to note shuffling, some of which horribly obvious and Id like to get to the bottom of it. Bests ian

Hi Mike Not this one. Its Cakewalk GTPro2. 2004. Lol. Until recently its been rock solid and can't understand yet which is running out of whack. I need an 'outside' source of 95bpm to try and check what's happening. Bests Ian

I'm trying to track down a recording bug which MIGHT be due to BT PLAYBACK going out of timing against analogue (guitar) recorded input. It can't be me surely?! To try and nail it down I need a CLICK TRACK or METRONOME recording - say 60 - 90 seconds - at a GUARANTEED 95bpm from an independent source to lay across my DAW and see which one is running out - me or 'it'. Any offers greatly appreciated. Bests Ian

Thanks for the info, Sandra. Didnt catch those but 'suffered' Macca at the Cavern which followed. Awful sound and undewhelmed by his choice of songs. And he banged on about being 'back at the Cavern'. No, he wasn't - that was demolished to build an office block. He was at a poor replica across Mwtthew Street. Not a patch on the original. Bests Ian

Hi Nick I enjoyed that so much. Great playing and video. Having lived and worked in The Pool in the 60s it was a huge Nostalgia Trip to go back this September. The Beatles statues are amazing but was totally underwhelmed by the 'New' Cavern. Mars has more atmosphere! Super music, mate! Bests Ian

This mwy be good news or bad news, depending on your point of view. For quite a while I have been plagued by my recording software running variable speed or latency on my recorded analogue tracks. Typically a 3 minute recorded guitar track will PLAYBACK fast compared to its BT. About 1/4 bar early by the end of 3 minutes. So an impossible situation. After many months faffing about and getting nowhere, enter local PC TechyMan. In desperation I called in the PC Experts and he has solved the problem. Don't ask - its all mumbo jumbo to me. I just use the darned thing. So, once we're back from holidays, I'll try recording again. As I say, good news or bad news?? Bests Ian

I was watching a re run of a re run of a re run of The young ones on the fishtank the other night, and whilst on stage at the "Simkins Youth Club" the shads were playing and Hanks Fiesta Red Strat had a rosewood fretboard so which one was that?? best wishes Kay And Summer Holiday too. Its No6 on the TVS list but I don't know why, seeing as it was 1961, why 34346 wasn't used. Ian
