Its relatively simple to do yourself and get good results. Preparation is the key--spend time and effort getting that right and it will pay dividends. Use nitrocellulose lacquer properly formatted for spraying guitar bodies--I woudd point you in the direction of Rosko and Frost or Northwest guitars IMO don't use the acrylic car paint sprays --they are very unforgiving and take ages to dry (cure) N/cellulose rattle cans cost around £16 each but if they need to be posted to you postage is very expensive cos they're Hazmat materials. Most colours are available --read up on methods on the 2 sites mentioned --plenty of advice too online --Youtube and Stewmac Follow instructions--Take care and take your time-- you might be well surprised at how good it turns out Not rocket science but its time consuming and meticulous work--practice make perfect!

As Andy said-- T-cut route Its worth what someone will pay for it --major problem is the respray--could be used by propective buyer to drive price down--regardless of how good or unapparent it is it renders the guitar non original!--real shame but that's just the way it is!! Good luck with it anyway.

It seems that everywhere I look (I mean on musical instruments for sale sites and forums)that the Boss Katana, in some form or other, features very regularily--a lot of people who have them seem to want to sell theirs. How come? Does it not live up to its claim to sound like a valve amp or an amp that can capture the HBM sound? I think by now and in spite of the 'new/better/best marketing hype' attached to the launch of said amps that most of us older (and wiser?) players realise that it is pretty darned near impossible to get a solid state amp to sound like a valve one and have long since abandoned the search down that avenue. Just curious--some of the second hand prices are quite tempting and I'm nearly persuaded to pull the trigger on one but so far have controlled myself. --Any opinions??

I agree wholeheartedly with Paul Of course the whole thing has gone pear shaped since Covid but back in 'the day' playing to the 'blue rinse brigade' (even they are entitled to enjoy themselves)-- nobody heard nor knew the difference!--Add a drop of drink into the equation and you might as well have been battering a bin lid----you'll never please all of the people all of the time --heck some of us can't please some of the people some of the time!! What to do ---Please yourself--if a certain bit of gear sounds better to you or makes you feel better just to 'have it' whats the problem?

Have you noticed the number of blokes this year who have complained that when they ordered perfume on-line for their wife's Christmas pressie their suppliers sent a new guitar and amp? -just goes to show that personal over the counter service can't be beaten! Happy Christmas and a healthier New Year to everybody

Again I offer my tried and trusted setup method which I have posted before--worth examining and mastering--like riding a bike--once you 'get it' = no more tuning problems!! Regards David
To add my tuppence worth on setting a floating trem on a strat heres a excerpt from a solution I posted on the site a couple of years ago --and it still works regardless of what way the springs are orientated or how many you use if you get the 'balancing act' right!!
Post by nessmonst on Feb 14, 2013 at 3:12pm
'Everyone seems to have different ideas about setting the floating tremelo on a strat--I've tried all already mentioned but have found that within reason any combination of string gauge and number of springs used will keep in tune using the set up method I use. The 'physics' of this method assumes that if the tension of the springs is set exactly equal to the tension presented by the strings and that there is no strings bind on the nut or bridge (of course this should be checked). If you can achieve this 'happy equilibrium' the guitar should return to pitch after even the most violent whammy exertion!--Heres the secret that works for me!
a)Remove tremelo back cover--remove old strings--loosen the trem springs--ensure that the bridge mounting screws are not so tight as to prevent up/down travel of the bridge--restring with the gauge of your choice and tune the strings well above pitch--This will have the effect of pulling the trem block towards the butt end of the guitar.
b)Insert tremelo arm and pull it upwards-- the tremelo block is now pulled forward (towards the neck). You will observe that there now is a gap between the tremelo block and the guitar body
c)Place a shim of wood or similar material (approximately the full width of the trem cavity)cut to the right size into this gap and release the trem arm so that the trem block is pulled forward again by the tension of the strings and grips the inserted shim fairly firmly
c) Check that the bridge is in the preferred floating position and tune and adjust the action and intonation as desired.
e)Now we have the guitar tuned and set up the way we want but the trem is 'locked'--heres the fiddly bit.On a flat surface--table/bench or whatever lay the guitar on its back.Holding it so that we can access the trem spring screws from underneath (awkward I know ) tighten the screws bit by bit so that the trem block is again pulled towards the neck and the shim slips/falls out.If the guitar is set up to your taste keep the shim for possible future use.
If you have done this correctly you should now find that your string /spring tension are equal and provided that there is no nut/bridge string binding. You can now wobble away and the tuning should return to exact pitch. I have been able to set up many strat trem type guitars with differing string gauges/number of springs and using this method where even dive bombing and severe use of the trem leaves the tuning unaffected.
This set up is harder to explain than actually do--and of course it goes without saying never force anything in its application.'
Tuneful wobbles to all David

Hello everyone Like Barry I have this Laney amp which I think is a great. Mine is the reverb version —the LC15R. I have tried 2 separate examples but found both to be very ‘hissy’ at any appreciable volume—kind of like a frying pan in the background. This sort of spoils it for me ergo I don’t make as much use of the amp as I otherwise could.Anyone out there have a similar experience? Seems like this is a characteristic of this amp. or am I wrong? Maybe this is a question for Charlie—is there any mod that would reduce this background hiss without sacrificing the otherwise excellent tonality? Any suggestions/solutions welcomed from all. Regards David
