Hi All, Has anyone tried making conductive paint as can be used for screening Strats. If so what were the ingredients and did it work ? I'm having some success with powdered graphite in a dilute PVA (Bondcrete) binder. regards George

I haven't ever used conductive paint, although one of my Strat bodies already had it. I wouldn't have ever thought of mixing my own! I have no idea of the ingredients required to form a good shield. Then there is the base to consider, as to how well it will stick to whatever it is sprayed onto. Regards, Charlie

May be that DIY conductive paint might work, but how will it evolve with time is another matter. Not sure it worth trying when professionally made paints are available at prices which are not out of reach...

Hi Charlie and Didier,
Quite right it is available commercially but half the fun of DIY is finding out how to make things then spending 10 times as much to "wrecked-ify" it later ! ;D Hoping Aussie Baz, Amanda or someone might have a secret formula. regards George

HI GEORGE ,, I have not thought to make up conductive paint ,but I would presume it would be powdered carbon or copper sulphate added to lacuer ,[cellulose] it would mix ok, the ''burra mines'' near here manufacture copper sulphate a very black substance ,I could ask them if you like ,the ''army'' uses it for? I don't,,,,,,!!!!! know but it is very expesive stuff.. I used self stick aluminium tape in my squier project ,but would use the copper self-stick sheet next time!!!!!!.. THE conductive paint used in fender guitars as is my ''US'' strat,is used for ease of production [easy to do & quicker on a production line, but I think the copper sheet would be better & is not all that hard to fit & a bonus is you can solder to it!!!!!!!!!!,join,s etc.. CHEERS TO ALL ''FREIND'S!!!!!!! ......................barry..

Hi Barry, Thanks for that, I have some aluminium metal tape that I used last time, just hoping to avoid all the fiddling with bits of tape and making sure they're all connected. regards George
