Guys & Gals. My apologies. I assumed that you all knew about the TVS3 clips. I stumbled across them a couple of weeks ago and I was fascinated. I have to say for anyone striving for the HBM sound these clips are a must watch. I downloaded and burned the clips to a DVD for my Dad - he has a real slow internet. I'd go as far as saying don't pick up your guitar again until you've watched them. There are four clips, in total getting on for two hours viewing. www.youtube.com/results?search_query=the%20tvs%203Please watch. You definitely won't regret it, I promise. Cheers, Julian

In the spirit of the original post... Had an afternoon dabbling last week and came up with this - www.4shared.com/mp3/APmg4UlTba/20140105_Wonderful_Land.html?Okay, the mix balance is off, the backing track is awful - something my Dad got off a Guitarist/Guitar Techniques CD in the 90s, I think - and there is room for more tweeking, but the sum total of the equipment used, not including the laptop, interface and lead, is £140 - that's a £100 guitar (no names just yet ), £40 DAW, no amp, no FX boxes, no mics, no expensive plugins. ALL effects and amp sim are the free ones on the DAW. I have the necessary gear to do a backing track, and let's face it, everyone here already owns a Strat type guitar, so realistically, the cost of the guitar could be removed from the equation. My DAW is named earlier in the thread, but all the plugins I used will have an equivalent in whatever DAW you buy. The echo 'unit' is made up using a saturation plugin, multitap delay plugin and an EQ plugin. The reverbs are similarly, EQ plugin + reverb plugin. The amp sim on my DAW is very basic, so again EQ plugin + amp sim plugin - if you really knew your 'onions' you could do without the amp sim altogether and just use EQ. Ye know, I'd love to hear the more technically minded guys, especially the ones with the playing technique nailed do something with ultra budget gear. I think it would offer encouragement to those that can't afford the topend gear and demonstrate that how you play it makes more of a difference than what you play it on. Gauntlet thrown down
