Hi,
yesterday I found on YouTube a Video with Hank demonstrating the Apache Echo with a simple single tone. I compared it with my Quadroverb+ program 14 dedicated for Apache and it differs. Is this the same setting as in Q2/Q20 or what shall I change?
Kind regards Pinot

Hi Pinot, The echo of patch 14 should sound virtually the same as heard on the video. So should patch 15 (except with slightly less echo amount). Try also comparing patches 14 and 15, because they should sound very similar. Regards, Charlie

I think I know which youtube vid you are talking about. Hank just gives the Strat a real quick pluck so you can hear all the echos. For Apache I hear three distinct echos. One right after the dry, then a time gap, then two more in quick succession.
The EFTP on my Q2 has these three echoes.
I also have Q-GT which I programmed an Apache patch using info from the echotapper site, then fine-tuned by ear using the Q2 as sonic reference.
If your Q+ is giving only a single echo, then something is wrong. did you accidently edit the patch?

Hi, this is a misunderstanding, I meant Hank strokes only one tone to hear the echo. I hear the 3 echoes but I heard a difference to program 14. Maybe I didn't hear correct after 10 times switch between. It was first time that I looked into the program and was a little surprised that TAP 1 and TAP 2 have feedback 99, 3 and 4 with 0. Maybe Charlie wanted to get a little reverb?
Kind regards Pinot

My older Q2 patches (which is what Hank used on the video) also had this feedback on taps 1 and 2. However, on the Quad Plus, the feedback, although set to 99 on the taps, is then limited by the master feedback setting. Everything works a bit differently on each unit type, but the end result is more or less the same. My later patches for the Q2 and Q20 removed this feedback. Regards, Charlie

Just one of the advantages of an early Meazzi Echomatic. My modified PA-304 (head spacing etc.) can reproduce the Apache echo with no feedback or reverb, but a small tweak of the reverb knob, gives just that faintest amount of reverb to make the sound 'Live'.
A lot too depends on venue, if you are playing live, you probably would not want any reverb anyway.
Many versions of Apache played by Hank over the years with different echo boxes, tape and digital, all sound good, so if he doesn't worry too much about reproducing that first Apache recording, why should we?
James.

Hi Charlie, I think there are no patches more available for the Q+. If I set the feedback manually from 99 to 0, is that all or is anything else to do e.g. with the masterfeedback? Maybe a small reverb after it? Kind regards Pinot

Hi Pinot, It would be easier to set the master feedback to 0. Then you do not have to do anything else. Regards, Charlie

Hi all,
I think that (at least for the Q20) patch 14 (15) is used for Atlantis. For Apache it should be patch 00 - this one gives 3 distinct echoes. These are at least the settings suggested by Charlie in the paperworks coming with the EFTP patches.

Hi Soren, this maybe different to Q+. 14 is according to the papersheet for Apache, 05 is for Atlantis, 00 e.g. for Dance On. Thanks to Charlie, that works ok. Kind regards Pinot
