Hi Barry,
You're revering to the pre HBM customshop 20 or the "59" "shadow strat" from Music Ground? I've handled both strats a few times, the Music Ground "59 shadow" strat has nothing to do with the original 34346... At that time the guitar was shipped with two neckplates, a "spare" with the serial number 34346 and the one on the guitar. This fake 59 got thumbs down by all original shadows....mater of fact Bruce was furious about the suggestion was made, he was working alongside with the MG guys to recreate the original..... Funny is that all owners of that 59 shadow strat I met, where defending this guitar firing from all barrels! Look at the COA it's genuine etc... All of theme where to stubborn to admit they were conned for a few bob...
Cheers Rob

Caveat emptor!! A quick google of Music Ground revealing their 'pedigree' might raise a few eyebrows!! Regards D

Hey folks I also have one of these in question sorry for the revival I have 10 of 20 and cannot find out a single piece of info about this guitar. I am currently in a long wait back and forth with Fender directly about this guitar it is definitely authentic as has all the fender goodies including cert and case.

awstrat,
There is a reason why you can't find any info about this guitar...because back in the day this guitar was sold to the people....it got a bad rap... Because of the earlier mentioned reasons, first of all it was not a carbon copy of the real Apache strat the 343436, and the slogan "Bruce aproved and with his help we got it done" was a blatant lie. It was just a dealer order of about 20 strats from Fender, with general vintage features....for a 4 times over the top price, you normaly pay for a simular guitar.... If you pay your money to Fender and it's enough you can order what you like and call it kinda what you want.... A coa worth 1,50 gbp doesn't make this guitar a genuine shadows approved instrument, matter of fact all living shad at that time hatted the whole adventure regarding MG conned people with the above mentioned frase.... So it's nothing more then a strat outfitted with parts and color kinda in de same ballpark as the original, not a carbon copy. Not approved by the shads what so ever. Much higher in selling price as a simulare guitar just sold by other stores Standard case candy, with a fantasy COA doesn't make it special in the real world. The only thing all these guitars have in common is, the owners paid to much for this package and the dealer got a big smile on his face... The bad rap of MG sais enough....this "59 shadow strat" is just one of many deals, with just one goal money making.... the more the beter, with a product what not is what it has to be....
Cheers Rob

Thank Rob, Fender have confirmed that these are legit in their books and as for shadows approval I'm not really too fussed it was bought by my late father as a tribute to his favourite artist so I'm just glad he had passed away before the whole MG thing fell apart. Still at least I've got his original 62 first red strat to fall back on, as for the 59 shadows I don't even know what hardware is supposedly claimed to be fitted as I said I can't find any info on these guitars Number 2 is back for sale though.
