Hi Charlie, I kindly ask you to put me on your "waitinglist" for those who are interested in your new echo unit. I am very much interested in the new amplifier as well. It is the old sound we all are waiting for, so I really hope that this new project starts as well. Best regards, Jos

Hi, I have bought a Qudraverb Plus some months ago and it was working beautiful but suddenly one day all patches was gone. I thought it was the battery and opened up for a check but it was showing 3,68V which means that it was OK I think. How do I do to reinstall the files? I found a number inside and I think it is the Serial Number (19920415). Best regards/ Ralp

Hi Ralp, That number looks more like a date code to me. All Quad Plus serial numbers should be on a paper label on the base of the unit and begin QV. Regards, Charlie

Hi Charlie,
Im Jack from Mauritius and Im new here. I like The Shadows since my childhood which I discovered with my late father who was also guitarist.
Congratulation for your new unit and thanks for sharing that magic. My father who knew about the echo units used by hank always told me if he could get a meazzi, he'd buy one.
Now Im just waiting for the release of your unit and please add me to your list,
Kind Regards, Jack

Hi kev, Thanks, you are already on the list. The Hall & Collins echo is not designed to be used in an effects loop. It is designed to react a certain way with guitar signal levels and impedances and running it in an effects loop could destroy some of that desirable effect, and it may also overload too much with a stronger signal. It should work well with any guitar amp when connected between the guitar and the amp. Regards, Charlie

Hi toronco, Hopefully by the end of this year. By voice pedal I assume you mean a volume or tone/volume pedal. No, it won't include one but it will work with a separate one. That way you can use the one you like best and change to another when you feel like it. Regards, Charlie

Charlie - reference the connection info above I've found that if I do not use the send/return loop (in my case the 'Stockton' amp and the RFX2000) then the echo machine magnifies a normally undetectable level of circuit white noise to unacceptable levels ie a very noticeable hiss. I regard myself as a novice in these matters - so would you have any comment on that?

Hi Mike, I don't know about the Stockton. I was involved with the Acetone and it had a different effects loop designed to my specification. Maybe the Stockton effects loop doesn't provide a 1:1 gain whether it is used or not? Regards, Charlie

I just play safe with my AceTone and go line in. I recommend you do that with the Stockton.
Charlie might remember, Stewart Ward at Session produced his version of the AceTone and called it the Stockton. I was in on the original spec of the AceTone with Charlie and Stewart. Stewart told me he had altered the effects loop to be a bit more versatile with a bigger variety of effects and changed the speaker.
Trouble is, he moved away from the original AceTone spec which to my ears was pretty much spot on for the Shadows sound. I think the Acetone sounded more authentic, but I suspect just a change of speaker back to a Celestion G12-T100 might do the trick for the Stockton, but I cannot guarantee that as there may have been other alterations to the circuit I'm not aware of. Hope this helps. Peter

Hi Charlie
You have said above that the Hall Collins echo will work best between a Guitar and Amp.
I can't use an amp,and have to DI my guitar into the interface.
Will I be able to plug my guitar into the new echo, then into the input of the interface.
Also, will the new echo be capable of producing more modern echo's,or is it purely for the Early Shadows sound?
Thanks
Alan

Hi Alan, Yes, you can connect the guitar to the echo first. The output impedance is quite low so it should drive the next item OK. Some modern echoes are planned, including for U2. They are easier to write too! Regards, Charlie

Hi Charlie,
It's nice to hear your back again on the scene and that the development of the new echo unit is going well. Please add me to your list of potential customers, if it's not too late.
Best wishes Niels Peter Noergaard
