Go to Youtube and key in "Just Hank Marvin" for the full version of Hank's 1997 vhs video where Hank plays and explains many of his techniques used on classic Shadows tunes. Regards, John.

To anyone who hasn't seen this, it's well worth a look. It's interesting to see Hank discussing his techniques and then demonstrating them.
Thanks John,
Len

Cheers Len, I've previously seen bits of this video but this is the first time I've seen it in full. I was particularly pleased to see Hank demonstrating the "other" solo for "The Savage". He also acknowledges Charlies' EFTP in the interview which he must have ben using at the time. Regards, John.

Thanks John. Just discovered this thread. What a revelation. Just watching it. Glad to see Hank giving Charlie credit without actually naming him. Kudos to Hank.

Hi John
Yes, it was very enjoyable. I just wished that they could have flashed some tabs on-screen or got Hank to slow it down. Nevertheless, thoroughly enjoyable. Learned a lot. Thanks for the heads-up.
Regards Rick

Could someone post the link, please? I can only find the segments. Many thanks.
Interestingly, I recall the TVS chaps, analyzing "Apache," concluded that Hank didn't use the trem bar for the main melody in the 1960 recording. Listening carefully on headphones, I tend to agree. In the video, Hank uses it all the time. A later practice, I suppose; he didn't sound like the record there. (In the very early days, It seems Hank didn't hold the trem bar all the time. He would just grab it when needed.)

Thanks for posting the link Steve. I'm not that technically minded( we've only just discovered Betamax where I live!!!)
Andy re:"Apache". You're right about how Hank plays it differently now using the trem bar during the main melody. Perhaps he thinks it sounds better.I do! Regards, John.

Hi Steve, It's an Echomatic 2 patch, modified to include a pitch shift effect on the dry part of the signal to give a double tracking effect similar to the original. Regards, Charlie
