Hi Mick, Thanks for posting this, the sound is okay but are you putting the microphone to your amp and recording with a video recorder of some sort or through the computer? To me it sounds like going through the computer, I find when recording through a computer, there is this compression sound to the picking of the strings or perhaps it’s just me, it’s the lack of ‘Bite’ on the strings, how did you record the guitar? Thanks Peter

Hi All I don't know if anyone has come across this yet but if you have ,sorry to repeat old news.
the Kinman impersonator 54's have now been rebranded they are now known as the "Hank Marvin Set" which i am led to believe replaces the "impersonator 54's" completely. these are not the same as the FV HMS type which have also been tweeked by Kinman
hope this helps
best wishes
Kay

Hi Kay. I think Hank now uses the Impersonator 54 V5 hence the rebranding. I have a set and think they are really good. Dave

Slightly old thread, but still relevent. I've recently installed two sets of Kinmans in a pair of Stratocaster copies, and would like to give my thoughts. The first set I tried were the Blues set, comprising SCn in the bridge position, and AVn-62s in the other two positions. Very close to the Hank sound, but not quite there, but certainly closer than all the Fender, Ironstone, Tonerider etc. pickups I've tried down the years. Yesterday in a second body I installed a set of Kinman Warrior Geronimo pickups ( new, but dating from 2013 manufacture), and these-through a Boss ME-80 emulating a Vox AC-30 and Hall and Collins Signature Echo -absolutely nail that elusive sound I've searched for over decades! So before you splash out on the specific Hank Marvin sets, have a go with these.
