Hello Guys,
Can anyone give me a link to strings that hank uses in 2009 or send a link that are near the same or just the best for the sound?
Cheers Joe

Hi Joe, Quotation: 'Hank was utilising two Custom Shop Stratocasters. One was fitted with 11-49's, and the other with 12-52's'. Regards, Bernie

Hi Joe Hank uses DR string and also D'Addario. Hank told me once "the best strings are the ones who are free" Joe, just use the strings your comfortly with, just try some brands and gauges. I settled with D'Addario's 11-14-17-32-42-52 for mondern and 14-17-32-42-52-62 for old sound....I found D'Addario not so stiff as Fenders and DR's but people will differ in opinions on that also. So are people struggling with my (in there eyes) heavey sets...but I've no problem with these sets, I can also bend my strings a little on my Bass VI so... But that's why I wrote, choose the one you like for feel and sound....that's importend, because Hank did/does the same...
Cheers Rob

When I bought my 1964 Marvin (I actually bought a new one in 1964/5) I had the information that there were only 300 to 350 made, although it has been said that there were many more produced it's interesting that John Cambell (from the link) also confirms the 300 to 350 figure. So are people struggling with my (in there eyes) heavey sets...but I've no problem with these sets, I can also bend my strings a little on my Bass VI Cheers Rob To be honest, After using 12's/13's for a while I have no problem also with bends but the amount is limited of course compared to lighter gauges. Paul Day (guitar guru) wrote the famous 315 is just not a serious figure....they made almost 21000 Burns and Balwin guitars...the Marvin was the most succesful one, so about 300/350 seems very low.

It's not the total amount Rob, it's the amount before Burns were taken over as that greatly reflects on the price, the same as with a Strat.

Phil, before Burns was taken over it builded between 13000 and 14000 guitars and the Marvin was the most succesful, so like you I thought decades long about 315 where made. Paul Day told me that this was a BS number, he has list with parts and stuff going on higher numbers...

Rob, I wonder who came up with those figures because realistically it would only be a couple of weeks work for the factory before the take over.

Well Phil my guess is as good as yours....presumably the one who wants to sell his Marvin for a higher price...
But be honest how many originals have you seen? I have seen between 40 to 50...(I lost count to be honest) can't imagine I've seen about a sixt of there production...
