I've the BossFV300H too, and only to try why Hank used it after the Morley.(I asked him, he use them on stage because they are passive,no power needed)
It's a nice pedal,but it works with a pot like the FV500H you have.
The original recordings of those famous swell high notes, were done by Hank with a Morley VBO pedal(the big Silver ones with a power-lead for the electronics inside the pedal).
I've two Morley VBO's and a Vol2 mini (like the VBO with light cell but 9v power) and a DeArmond610 (Hanks first vol/tone 60's pedal).
If you go to the sound files for all section, you can listen to my Cavatina/Deerhunter, in My Apache and Witch Doctor posting( Cavatina was included later).
There you can hear the Morley VBO like Hank used in the original recordings.
Long swells and nice sound.
