Hi
For those that don't know me my name is Stephen and I am a director at Electromech.
First off all please accept my apologies for our part in the delay of this unit. I am not going to hide too much behind the covid issues that everyone has been dealing with although this has had an impact on our abilities and resources. We had most of our staff furloughed last year (and indeed some still are) which meant all our efforts had to go into our production as that is what keeps us in business, which has had a knock on effect to all the r+d jobs that we have, the EF86 project being one. Most of our suppliers have also been on in the same position and pushed r+d to the background.
So where are we now. The main hold up now is the metal enclosure. I have a sample sitting on my desk, but I am not happy with it as it does not meet the quality we require for this project. I will be speaking to our metal work supplier today and will discuss the issues and the changes required to remedy the issues. Once I have a suitable sample here I will get Charlies approval on it and we can then press the button on ordering the first batch.
We also find ourselves in the middle of a semiconductor shortage, where a lot of very common parts are now becoming very difficult to get hold of. Most of the parts in the EF86 are not affected but one of the potentiometers used is almost impossible to get at the moment. We are awaiting news on the supply of this.
So, once again I apologise to you all for the delays although hopefully we are now in a position to get things moving again.
I will endeavour to update as and when I can.
Steve

Hi Steve,
Thank you very much for taking the time to react so promptly and for your detailed explanation. It’s greatly appreciated! Any pre-existing doubts and anxieties will have been tempered by this clear demonstration of your willingness to answer our shared concerns surrounding these unfortunate delays. In particular, it appears we can now look forward again with renewed confidence to the launch, hopefully in the not too distant future, of this much anticipated product.
Your undertaking to provide us with updates on progress, as and when you can, is also confirmation of a desire to maintain excellent customer relations and we applaud you for that!
Kind regards, Mike

Thanks Steve for taking the time to enlighten us as to the problems you face in the manufacture process, there are many of us eager at this end for a product of similar quality to the Hall & Collins signature echo that will be the long awaited EF86 to compliment the H&C. Regards, Tim.
P.S. Charlie, I would like to change my contact email on the forum & EF86 list could you advise the best way of doing this please. My @ntlworld email is still valid if that is ueful to you.

Hi All Quick update, I went to the metal workers last week and discussed the requirements for the case with them. They are going to send some drawings to me. Once I have these and I everything is in place I can get an order in for them. I will update once I have more to tell.

Hi Charlie... I have stumbled across this exciting new project from a reply you have just linked me too regarding the 'wobbly' pot post he asked me about. In your reply to him, you mentioned pots for your EF86 project which I then went and searched for on the forum:) Hehe... I have spent the past couple of hours+ reading through all the posts on this EF86 Project and it is indeed sounds very exciting (its now 3am here in the UK.. lol) but it made really interesting reading and I couldnt stop reading all the 14 pages of posts until I had read them all Im hooked and I too would love to own one and also support your brilliant work by getting one of these units to use alongside my H&C signature echo.... so could you please be good enough to add me to the list for one. Thanks in advance Kind Regards Dave

Hi billyboy, It looks like I will have to redesign the unit's circuit to work with hopefully more easily obtainable components. There is some uncertainty with what exactly might be more easily obtainable. Regards, Charlie
