If anyone out there is using a Hall & Collins Echo unit with a Vox AD50VT Valvetronix Amp. I would be most interested and grateful to know how you set up your amp. Kind Regards To All.

The AD Valvetronix series aren't as easy to work with as the VT series, but you can still get a passable Shadows tone. I don't think it matters which echo unit you're using, although I know the better quality ones like the H&CSE do lend a vintage quality to the tone. It's some time since I had the AD50VT, but I do remember one of the best Shadows tones could be found surprisingly on the Boutique OD amp setting with the gain somewhere between 8 and 9 o'clock, and the preamp volume at about one o'clock. Bass and Middle to the left of twelve o'clock and Treble to the right. If you've got a decent guitar with vintage sounding pickups those settings will get you in the ballpark, and you can tweak them to suit yourself.
Cheers,
Len

Thanks for that info Len - really appreciated. Can I just clarify which control knob is the preamp volume? My amp has one "Volume control" on top plate plus then another to the far right of the top plate which is called "Master Volume Control" and then at the rear of the amp a third Volume control which I understand is used to determine the overall correct volume level pro-rata to the room you are playing in etc.
Many Thanks for your input and response to my enquiry. Best Regards Keith

Hi I once had the AD30vt, it had a master volume control on the back so you could set, so that when you used the volume control, it had a cap on the amount of volume you would use, I never bothered I always had it up full on the back and just used the volume on the top control panel. Len is about right re the boutique setting, especially in the house but I found I couldn't get a rounded enough sound in the live set, so set it for the Fender Twin channel, I found it to give me a fuller sound. pete

Thanks for that information Pete, I'm really grateful for your response. I can get close to the sound I want but the echo is never clean - it always sounds like an echo in a church hall. I'll give your suggestion a try ASAP. Thanks once again.
