Hello Stephano,
You don’t know how tempted I was to reply on the lines of- they sound wonderful, so too late I’ve bought it...........but that would be a fibber.
Cheers

Honest Stephano, I don’t recall hearing about these before today. So please don’t buy one on my account!
It seems the only echo unit not simulated on the H&C SE is the Watkins echo..........and perhaps Charlie didn’t include that because of the difficulty of programming in a regular click as the tape goes round....!!!

Mick, to be honest with you, I added it to my cart, and my finger was hovering over "BUY" but I just need some endorsement about this unit.
Stephano.
Mick, it's STEPHANO not Stephane

Hi all,
Bought mine around 2000 right from Mr. Huisentruyt who produced this echo unit.I think production started around 1999.I'm still using it and it realy is the Holy Grail.
Also using the H@C unit and think the Atlantis is just a little bit better.During almost 20 years never had any problem with it.
If any problem would happen with this unit,Mr. Huisentruyt is still repairing them.
Greetings Raymond (Belgium)

Stephano,
I've have used a few times the Atlantis echo, don't get me wrong it's a very good device....but it takes work to use it. Every single tune you play,(except when you play the tunes with exactly the same echopatch in a row...) you've to fiddle the settings. Furthermore this Atlantis emulates perferct working Meazzi,Echolettes etc. Hanks Meazzi where far from perfect working machines, but we all grow up with his sound and we love it. So if your after Hanks sound you can buy almost 2 H&C for the price of this Atlantis. IMHO the H&C is far better machine!
Cheers Rob

Hi all, well I am now the proud owner of a LEGENDARY "ATLANTIS ECHO 1" made an offer of £600 and a SALE was agreed at £630 which I am rather pleased about. This is not the TUBE LOADED MODEL, but still a good bargain I think. Stephano

Hi Rob,
yeah your right. I managed to obtain a bit more info on BOTH MODELS.
THIS is the one I have..
Made in Begium by Hugo Huysentruit, Kerelec in about 1991 for Shadow-fans to reproduce the most desired authentic echo-patterns we heard from 1.Watkins Copycat 2. VOX Domino 3. VOX Long Tom 4. Meazzi PA 304 5. Binson Baby Echo 2 6. Binson Export 7. Binson Echorec 2
All the well known Shadows-Tunes can now be played with the authentic echo-sound and -patterns used by Hank B. Marvin and the Shadows. Anyway, all other Musikstyles will also benefit from this beautiful sound. Even a vocal echo is suitable. The Unit comes with the original manual and is in perfekt condition. Included is also a list of Shadow-tunes with all parameter-settings to obtain the desired sound and pattern.
THIS is the TUBE LOADED MODEL...
Extremely rare Tube loaded Atlantis 1 Echo Unit, only 10 ever made!!
Shadows fans know the Atlantis 1 as the holy grail for emulating all of Hank Marvin’s echo sounds.
Approximately 300 Atlantis units were ever built and this Tube Loaded version is even rarer with only 10 units ever built. You can see in the pictures the serial number of this unit is 5/10. The unit features an EF86 Tube Preamp circuit, just like the earliest Vox AC15 amps used.
The Atlantis 1 is a handmade analog delay, emulating the sounds of the following fabled vintage tape echoes: Watkins Copicat, Vox Domino, Vox Long Tom, Meazzi PA 304, Binson Baby Echo 2, Binson Export, Roland RE-301 and Meazzi Disc-Echoes.
The sound is amazing, very warm and organic repeats with a beautiful breakup.
The controls feature a preamp section with Volume, Hi-Norm-Lo Input toggle switch and Tone control. Next is the Tape section with Speed, tone character Filter (to emulate early Shadows songs) and Wow & Flutter (tape echo ‘imperfection’ control). The Echo section has a Repeat (delay length), Echo (effect volume), Bank 1 & 2 select toggle switch and a Select button to choose Echo model.
As an add on.
I notice that BOTH MODELS have WOW and FLUTTER adjustment.
Also the guy who sold it to me has told me that MY UNIT received a PATCH UPDATE by Hugo Huysentruit in 2004.

With reference to the need to twiddle the knobs etc for every song........I saw The Shadows at the Queens Theatre in Blackpool in 1963 I think......Hank had a Binson Echorec on a chair going into his Vox......he did the entire show without touching the Binson!......and I was well impressed with his sound......maybe find a good sound and concentrate on the playing is the way forward?
Cheers, Paul....
