Hi James
Yes, i think that feature is standard on the twin post trem with pop in arm. Ian did the mod on Hank's vintage 6 screw trems.
Its so useful to be able to adjust the arm torque tension and remove the dreaded arm wobble.
I don't know why Fender didn't use Wilkinsons, because in my opinion they are a superior product. They can be retro fitted.
Regards Peter

Hi,
What strikes me as funny is that the Burns Marquee has the grub screw in the trem block as standard, o.k. it's a die cast trem block and there's no insert to press against the trem arm.
A simple idea really!

HI, i have bought a Wilkinson to put on the guitar I'm in the middle of building, it has the grub screw on it, but what bothers me is what happens if you strip the thread tightening it. It really is very tiny and I expect it will quickly either wear a groove in the arm or the end of the grub screw will wear. Where my strat has got loose in the thread, I simply wrap around a bit of plumbers PTFE tape a few times around the thread of the arm, I can get just the right amount of tension to easily retrieve the arm from where I left it and not from hanging limply where gravity put it. I think a good solution would be to have a ball bearing backed up by a tension spring (like a cupboard door latch). Kind regards grip

Hi Grip
I have a Wilkinson 5+1 trem on my home built Strat. The grub screw bears on a plastic sleeve and I have not found any problem with the screw wearing away or grooving the arm. You don't need to tighten it very hard so I doubt the thread would strip. I agree though a ball and spring would seem a good ideal but would be more bulky. I have considered placing a small piece of plastic rod (maybe fingerboard a edge dot would fit?) in the threaded drilling but haven't got around to trying it
