Barry,
If it's just homerecording you're after I kindly suggest our eTAP Engineer VST module. It's free and it's loaded with all required (and correct) patches. I guess after already 4000 downloads it's delivering what we tell people: Vintage echo sounds covering a wide range of vintage echo tape/disc units include a "do it yourself" setting.
Kind Regards,
Piet

THANKS PIET ,I have had a look & not being so good on computer &do not do recording ,[don't know how] ,but I realise all the countless hours &dedication you &JACOB must have put into ''echo-tapper'' site is a credit to you& i have your patches in a magic-stomp[very-good] &i thank you for the free information &download facilities you provide, but I want to play around with a quadraverb, or zoom 2200???,I do not understand the vst module thing ,but assume it is computer based only??maybe a lap-top would be cheaper than all these hard to get effect units, definetly some thing to think about??? cheers for now &thankyou for your reply mate,,,CHEERS ''aussie'' barry..

Hi Barry,
Just spotted this and thought i 'd give you me my thoughts. I have a Zoom RFX 2200, a Quadraverb + and a Quad 2. All have EFTP patches installed.
The best without a doubt is the Quad 2. The RFX and the Quad + , to me are on a par, I like some of the patches on one better than the other.
As you mentioned the Zoom RFX is available brand new ( where stocks have lasted) in many cases, cheaper than one can buy a second hand Alesis Quad. For that reason I use my Zoom RFX for gigs ( sometimes the Quad+ too), and to be honest 99.9% of the audience couldn't tell the difference anyway, so I keep my Quad 2 safe at home. If you are struggling to get a Quad 2 but can get an RFX then go for it. Some say, I think Charlie mentioned this recently too, the 2200 is a problem on some AMPs due to the built in PSU, i've had no problems on quite a few AMPS, but if this worries you then go for a 2000.
hope this helps, regards
Dave

Hi Barry,
If you already have a Magicstomp, I wouldn't bother with a Zoom RFX2200. Charlie himself feels that the patches he has written for the Magicstomp are better that the RFX because they allow for pitch modulation (to simulate the wow on the old tape machines).
I haven't tried Piet and Jacob's patches for the Magicstomp, but I can vouch for the EFTP ones sounding very close to the Q20. Only the absence of added reverb on some patches makes the Magicstomp less authentic than the Q20 in my view.
