Hi Bernard, I have listened to your recording and it sounds good. I did not mean that the filters are matched to fit the spectrum of the guitar. I was just giving information about the filters in the original amplifiers which I have matched in the EF86 project. While some deductions can be made by frequency analysis, I do not rely on such experiments alone. The filter on the circuit 3 brilliance setting could well be around the 320Hz that you mention but the filter certainly is not one of 18dB per octave. Remember that in the amplifier alone there are other roll off points caused by coupling capacitors and the loudspeaker(s). The cut control is not a fixed 6dB per octave filter nor any other roll off rate. The roll off must depend on the setting of the cut control. When the cut control is set for the least treble, it rolls off below 1KHz at the 3dB point. Such facts are why I do not think the discussion of precise filters is of too much value. There could be any number of reasons for variations in the responses that you have discovered. All I am aiming to do is to reproduce the sounds of the original amplifiers and I hope the results of my demo recordings will be evident to those who seek such sounds. Regards, Charlie
