I tried the angled claw thing before, there's no advantage unless you're using 9-46 strings and you want to bend up 3 steps on the G,2 on the B and 1 on the E.

In the hand book that came with my US classic Strat with 6 hole trem, it says the rear edge of the trem top plate should be 1/8" above the body. It works for me.

Me too, Pete. However, doing a precise measurement is a bit awkward because the rear edge isn't a sharp right angle at that point - it curves upward.
I do the measurement from the mid point of the curve down to the top of the body.

I had a Levinson Blade Strat Style in the 80’s which had an interesting trem.....the six strings were individually sprung and there was some sort of cam system to operate the arm movements...worked really well and very smooth....big plus was if you broke a string the other five all stayed in tune unlike the Fender but where they all go sharp a bit.....

Hi, This is how I configured the floating tremolo as part of learning the setup procedure on my 3 Strats (American Deluxe x2, American Standard): charliehall.proboards.com/post/191240/threadYou will need to login to access the post/thread. That was 3 years ago and happy to say I’ve never had to revisit this part of the setup as everything remains stable. Regards, Mike

Hi, On the guitar that I use currently Custom shop 56Nos, I have it set up very sensitively but when I wind in the arm, I wind it to the limit then back it off one turn so I get a bit of slack. This way I find it gives me a bit of leeway, as I like to hold the Arm when playing and because of the sensitivity of the arm action, it helps to not accidently move it downwards mid playing motion, if that makes sense. If I leave go of the arm it drops down loose. Pete

Hi Pete, You like it that way, I hate it.... I use the same setup as on Hanks guitars and it works flawlessly. It poofs many ways are leading to Rome! Cheers Rob
