Hi, I have a question for these troubled times. The social distancing requirements have really put a crimp on useful rehearsals for our group. We've tried a couple of attempt using Zoom and other web collaboration tools, to no useable effect due to latency. I think this is going to be insurmountable due to Internet constraints, but I promised the guys I would ask this knowledgable forum if anyone had found a way of achieving real time music playing collaboration at a reasonable outlay?
In all honesty, I'm not hopeful, but there's always someone who knows more than we do, and if this is you, please advise. Kind Regards to all forum dwellers. Geoff

I am no expert in this, or much else these days Geoff, but but couldn't each one of you practice by playing along to an actual recording of what you are going to be playing.
You could even each record your part to your own DAWs then send all the individual files to each other, or just all of them to one of you to put them together in a DAW to see how it sounds.

Hi Geoff, a review of the most common systems: www.youtube.com/watch?v=yiNkzClzh98 Spoiler alert: real time jamming only seems to be viable if you have your own server and don't use WiFi connectivity. Paul.

Hi, Sandra and Paul Many thanks for your responses to my query. I think I half-knew that with our lack of resources there would be no quick or cheap fix for this problem. For me and my band-mates, the physics and budget are against us, so we'll just have to wait it out. Thanks again and stay safe Best wishes Geoff Rendall West Sussex
