At last the ef86 pedal that Charlie has developed is shortly to be with us, which is a bit of welcome news in this pandemic.
It is good news for those that are able to reach out and buy one; but it is also good news for those that haven’t the resources at this time, because many of us will have a Gemini 111 pedal that can be passed on once the new pedal is available.
The purpose of this note is to ask members what they think is a fair price for one of these pedals to change hands to include £5 postage for inland addresses.
Don’t be shy, please post a reply with your suggestion. But, do remember that at some point the price is such that it is easier to place it in the old pedal effects box to collect dust than go to the bother of getting it into the post with all the time involved.
Cheers
Mick

Hi Mick. I’m not sure what Charlie’s EF86 will sound like, and not sure why it might replace the Gemini 111. Could you elaborate For the un initiated? Much appreciated! Dave

Hello Dave,
I expect that the H&CSE together with the new pedal will provide all the vintage sounds we seek. Provided it does, as I’m sure it will, then I expect a good number of people will have a spare Gemini pedal. Only Charlie will know the full effect of the pedals together or separately.
Hello Paul,
I’m hoping members will come up with a price to ask that is fair and for the new pedal to be tried before finally deciding to sell.
Cheers
Mick

If it helps i sold my one for about £80 i think. My understanding still is that the EF86 pedal from Charlie is just giving the sound of an EF86 channel on an early AC30. The Gemini is a bass cut and EQ pedal so two very different products

Actually the EF86 Amp Emulator pedal has two different EF86 preamp emulations, channel 1 which emulates the earliest EF86 preamp found in the two tone AC15 of 1959, and the other channel has full range (channel 2A) or bass cut (channel 2B) settings. There is also a Vox power amp emulation and a switchable speaker emulation. The Gemini III was designed to cut bass and it has two settings for that. It doesn't emulate anything and wasn't designed to, even if you were led to believe otherwise. As Steve says, two very different products. Just telling it like it is. Regards, Charlie

Thanks Steve,
I’m looking forward to trying out the new pedal and deciding whether the Gemini is still needed

Hi Charlie. I’d also like to say “Thanks for the clarification “
Hi Mick I paid £70 for my Gemini111 from a member of this site. I’m very pleased with the way it alters my sound.
