If anybody had listened to my Lady in Red file and indeed read all the reply's you would have noticed that my DAW was giving me total grief to the point i was about to bin the whole thing, I had quite a few P.M's from other members who gave me great advice which I followed but it really didn't fix the problem, Then George got involved with almost a flow chart of what to do and what not to do, the man had the patience of a saint dealing with this crazy woman, as Audacity was driving me nuts ,anyway I think he was a pupil at Hogwarts, because what ever he told me to do worked.......... so this is a way of publicly saying a enormous thank you to George for his help ,understanding and patience. what a great place CHAF is filled with brilliant members. Best wishes to all for their advice and help but especially George Kay P.S I have already sent a personal thank you to George. pps I dont care what time of day it is....... and very Large G&T is the order of the day.......

Hi Derek,
Wouldn't I love to just wave a magic wand to solve these problems !
I think all modern DAW's are now totally over the top, trapped in the "feature race" and far too complicated for the average player who mostly just needs a simple way of recording a single guitar, tweaking the sound a little and mixing it with an existing BT.
Add issues caused by Windows OS's and sloppy drivers from audio interface manufacturers and no wonder it's a recipe for grief !!
A DAW that may be suitable for a pro or semi pro who can spend a great deal of time in mastering all the intricacies is not necessarily suitable for the casual amateur.
At least with Audacity, all the basic features are pretty self evident and intuitive whilst having quite a bit of "grunt" under the covers for those who want to go further.
Nice to see you posting again. I still get occasional spam emails claiming to come from you !!
Owing to changed family circumstances I don't get the time to play as before ... my poor finger calluses are almost non existent !
All the best George

Hi Kay. I was also struggling with audacity a while ago trying a number of different things with no luck and then George came to my rescue as well. I can remember on one occasion we were on the phone for about an hour installing plugins and more recently, George sent me some how to do videos which were a great help. I still think I`m only scratching the surface with it but I`ve now got a much better understanding of the basics and the more I use it, the more I`m learning about it. For something that`s free, you can`t complain. Many thanks again for your help George, very much appreciated. Regards Adrian

I take my hat off to all of you clever techie folk.
My recording days ended with the demise of the cassette tape recorder with its single red record button!!

Hello George, I still crack up when I think about the time I said I p[lay Man of Mystery in the 5th position and you replied with a picture of a ballet dancer doing the 5th position , Mick, what was it about the red record button that once pressed, your fingers turned into Walls sausages and you brain into Walls ice cream ? Ahh well, happy days.

How`s it going George, good to hear from you, hope you`re well.
No, I haven't played around with punch-ins and replacements yet but I will get around to it, I haven't had a lot of time to pick up the guitar lately but I`m starting to get back into it again now so, I`ll let you know how I get on.
Cheers
Adrian

George you did it again ! In Yorkshire a punch-in is a good scrap. and a replacement is what the dentist gives you afterwards. Frank.
