Hi Roger, I can only suggest reinstalling the Yamaha driver, and then reinstall the editor.
Kind regards,
Chris

Maybe it needs to be set to run as Windows XP in Compatability settings if you are using a later Windows operating system. Regards, Charlie

Hi Charlie, I have had it running for about 3 years on a Windows 10 machine with no problem. I moved house a few months ago and tried to open it for the first time today and it wont open. I have uninstalled it and installed it again and still no luck. i am a bit stumped now.

It’s some years ago since I had a MagicStomp and I also installed Charlie’s patches for others (all purchased legitimately), I seem to recall there were a few problems either with the MagicStomp connected when opening the app or the other way around!
May be worth trying?
Regards
Gary

This is a very common issue with sensitive electronic entities. Especially as they begin to age and get a bit crotchy ! All you can do is apologize then try and coax the MS software into finding a way to get the Magicstomp talking again. But first ... right click on the Editor and make sure it is set to run as Administrator. On both Win 10 and Win 7 64 bit PC's it runs OK without using the XP Service Pack 2 mode but You could try the "troubleshoot compatibility" option and see if that fixes it. Otherwise, as mentioned by others ... Download the latest drivers for your OS from .. au.yamaha.com/en/support/updates/umd_win64_kbd.htmlUninstall all the MS software including the Yamaha drivers as per the Driver installation guide Reinstall the drivers and the Editor as per the installation guides. Note that you should be signed in with Administrator priviledge and also run the software installation as Administrator. Good luck ! Cheers George

Hi Roger, I bought one of these from Ian who is selling all of his guitar kit a few days ago, the editor worked fine the day I installed it and I didn't use it again until this morning and found it not working (in Windows 10), I set compatibility to windows XP service pack 2 (the only option it gave me) ant it works fine again. I didn't need to reinstall the drivers. The editor exe file is in Windows (x86) --> Yamaha --> SGP TOOLS --> Sound Editor For MagicStomp.
I'm not sure whether the sound editor works without the Firmware being updated to V2.10, I updated mine and changed it to the acoustic Guitar model. What version does yours say when you switch it on?
The only difference I can think that would cause this is that between today and the day I received it there was a windows update yesterday.
Kind regards,
Chris

Hi Chris, Thanks for your reply. When you say you set compatibility to windows XP service pack 2 did you have to download that pack first??
regards Roger

Hi Roger, I didn't add anything to what was there, that's the only option it offered me and I've been on Win 10 a few years now, I do have XP installed as a 32 bit operating software, but that is only accessible by booting up into the drive with that installation on, I'm pretty sure that is service pack 3.
There are both 64bit and 32 bit drivers that ship with the MagicStomp, it may be worth checking you have the correct driver installed for your system.
Kind regards,
Chris

Hi Mike, Nothing happens at all. I have had it running on my Windows 10 for about 5 years and all of a sudden nothing happens. It doesn't even come up with an error message, just nothing.
regards Roger

Hi
A silly question ...... do you have a USB cable connected ?
I have recently used the editor with WIN 10 ... I ran it as Administrator as GL suggested . ( Run the Editor by selecting "Run as Administrator" from the SGP folder ( right click ! ) then with usb cable connected and the MS unit powered on you may be lucky .. I had to reopen ? from the task bar to make it display and work etc ...
One other possible fault make sure your power supply is okay as I have heard that these can be problematic.
I do hope some of that might help you solve the problem ..... but it wont hurt and is worth a try !!
Good luck
Derek

Hi Derek,
I couldn't remember which way around it was after all this time, but I installed the patches for several of our club members on different computers and needing to have the MagicStomp connected and switched on sounds about right!
