Hi all
I have a Zoom G5N but I don't think either Charlie or *** make the EFTP patches for it. There is a chap on the well known auction site (echopedaler)selling a similar product called Art D'Echo which can work with the Zoom G5N. My question is has anybody used these patches, and if so what do you think? He posts videos on YouTube and they certainly sound pretty good, but I thought I'd throw this one out there to see if any of you knowledgeable folk have any views/opinions.
I don't particularly want to sell the G5N and buy another pedal that does support the relevant patches so any advice would be much appreciated.
All the best

Hi Glen,
First of all, why the very big font?
The geezer of those echo programs is a counter-fitter and sell pirated programmes, stolen from original programmers. He also sells pirated versions of EFTP programs/bad copies and changed programmes from way back when for the well know devices. He doesn't give a fart about aftersales...all the programmes for the Zoom G series he sells especially later versions are basses on old software for earlier versions and don't work good on the new/later ones. Versions for Zoom G3 G5 incl the later N versions, he sells the same files for everything. So when you pay your money, you won't get a ultimate working programme for your unit.
EFTP is a thing from the past(no pun untended) if you want EFTP on your unit, you have to buy a older device with a genuine EFTP version on it.
When you don't want to change your unit, only thing what you can do is ask for self made echo programs among the members on the sites.
I've compared the Art echo with the Hall versions for the ZoomG3x and the (f)art version it's a bleak poor version in compare with the Hall version.
Cheers Rob

Hi mate.
Thanks for your reply. I don’t know what happened regarding the large font size, I was probably fooling around with my iPad and did something I shouldn’t - that’s me all over.
I’m glad you told me about this chap and his underhand dealings, I was seriously thinking of giving his patches a try. I won’t bother now.
What I think I’ll do is stick with the Zoom and just make do. The built-in delay and reverb are adequate, but obviously not as good as the EFTP ones.
Once again, thanks for your reply.
Cheers

Hi Glen There are plenty of free programs for the zoom units you can get a handful of them down on the zoom and change them some need more changes than others but they will get you in the ball park to play most if not all the shadows music. And when you are thinking of a better suited unit, you won’t go wrong with the Hall and Collins. I started with the zoom units and when the Hall and Collins came out I said I wasn’t going to spend that amount on an effects unit But after a year and listening to all the brilliant sound files people have put on this site I purchased one and never looked back

I’ll just add I thought about the money I was or had spent on amps pickups and guitars also peddles and effects trying to get a better sound when if I had the hall and Collins earlier it could have actually saved money plus compared to the other high end units it is cheap but not cheap on sound and quality. It could be cheaper in the long run. You will only regret not buying one. Just go and listen to the sound files if you aren’t sure

Mick your right about people giving money for lesser priced gear to get that sound. I've seen folks who on the long run give twice the amount for 3 or more attempts to get the sound, but refuse to purchase a H&CSE because it's to expensive for their taste. Granted I bought also a Zoom and Alessis but it was all a EFTP version upon that time the ultimate device... Sure I've could easily bayed original old Meazzi gear, but when they worked they keep sounding different what I heard from the ones Hank used.
Cheers Rob
