It's certainly the 1958 Strat bought in Paris from Patrice Bastien in 1981.

If so, unless it was returned to its original spec, only the body (and trem?) is 'original' 1958. Gorgeous, non the lesx. Ian

Its No6 on the TVS list but I don't know why, seeing as it was 1961, why 34346 wasn't used. Ian

Yes, exactly, although it seems only the neck and pickups (lol) were changed. Heresy I know but doesn't it make it just as much a Frankencaster as Kays awesome home build. Ian

A thing.............anything, that has been changed or messed with in any way from the original factory spec and finish is not original, it can only be original once, so if what Ian has said, and as he said possibly hear say, that the strat has had new bit fitted its not original just a thought

If so, unless it was returned to its original spec, only the body (and trem?) is 'original' 1958. Gorgeous, non the lesx. Ian Patrice Bastien ran for 20 years a vintage guitar business in Paris. He had a friend in the US who looked for him at interesting models. One day in 1980, a 1958 fiesta red was found, although the price was high, Patrice Bastien bought it. He had several potential customers for it, but in 1981, Hank Marvin came to play in Paris and he told to a journalist that he was looking for a vintage Strat. the journalist who knew Patrice Bastien told Hank that he might have something interesting. So Parice Bastien was asked to come at Hank's hotel to show him what he had. Patrice came with two Strats he had, including the 1958 one. Hank didn't hésitate, he immediatly selected the 1958 one and bought it. This 1958 Strat had not been modified. Patrice Bastien is also lead guitarist in his "Guitar Express" band, one of the best french Shadows' music cover band in France. Being also an electronician he had developed and built someyears ago a tone processor, the "PB Box" intended to emulate Hank's early sound in assiociaton with modern echo units, such as the Alesis Q20.
