Hi I have just received my new Hall and Collins Echo unit, i have been looking forward to getting for a long time. I have used the EFTP on several other units and been happy with them, but the Hall and collins is definitely the one to get.
My question though to the group is on the back of problem/issue... i don't know which yet.
The 5 knobs on the front.... 1, 2 and three... wobble quite bad, 4 and 5 are fine.
So i call up the technical team and tell them my unit is 10 mins old and i have these wobbly knobs.
Your obviously not happy with it... pack it up and i will get it collected........ was the response.
Will you send me a new one........ NO. Thats how they are.
Is this correct..... should they wobble.
I have a friend who has had one of the earlier models.... his is fine. This problem of wobbling knobs is in the last 2 years.
Can anyone shed some light.....

Hi, I know there has been a problem with obtaining the log pots for those 3 controls for some time. These pots are also required for the EF86 pedal that should be out in due course, so at least to me that is good news as production cannot go ahead without the correct pots. It looks to me like they have found a supplier of another type of pot that has the required spec. If they work with no issues such as unpredictable volume changes etc. then please accept the pots as they are. If there is an operational problem such as unpredictable volume changes etc., then obviously that would be a problem that would be covered by warranty. I hope my reply is acceptable to you. Regards, Charlie

thank-you Charlie.... i was surprised how loose they were, and also worried on the longevity of the pot. My main worry was the attitude of the guy i spoke to... all i wanted was some re-assurance that they would be ok.
Changing the subject... what is the EF86 pedal

OK, very good, so if you have any operational problem with the unit it will be sorted under the warranty period. The EF86 pedal project is an EF86 channel amp emulator pedal that can emulate the Vox AC15 of 1959 (Apache, Quatermassters Stores) and also the AC15 AND AC30/4 amps of 1960 normal and brilliance switch settings, the latter being of special interest for those who want the early Vox Shadows sound up to the time the sound changed to the top boost amps. The pedal is all solid state and does not contain an actual EF86 valve or any other kind of valve. The pedal also emulates the whole amplifier and so it can emulate power amp overdrive and compression, and it has a speaker emulation circuit that can be switched in or out. It has enough output to drive a computer sound card or line input. Regards, Charlie
