Hi ive just picked up a Alesis Quadraverb
On booting it up its v2.03 but it has the Vintage Shadows EPROM installed
Also when doing a test its coming up with a error in eprom
Does anyone know how i can get rid of the Vintage Shadows presets and restore it to factory ones?
Do i need to buy a new eprom?
Thanks

I haven't had a Quadraverb but surely it must have the facility to restore the factory settings?

It sounds like you need to change the software chip for a proper version 2.03 chip. I think these are offered for sale at various outlets. First of all though, try resetting the unit by powering up whilst holding in the PROGRAM and BYPASS buttons. If it still doesn't reset, then it needs changing if you want the unit back to original factory condition. Regards, Charlie

I may of be misremembering, but from memory I think these chips have their shadows patches as the presets on the chip so they wont be lost from a battery failure as they are not in the user bank.

Scott is right. Just type Alesis Q2 - Vintage Shadows VSE PRESETS. The presets are burned in the eprom. You will come up with all the info. To recover the original Q2 manufacture presets...you will have to buy one. Sheendigs

Hi Charlie
I think this is the same for the + and GT, as there were the same hard coded chips available. How good they are I have no idea, and no reason to find out. I still have my GT with EFTP, but until recently I didnt realise the previous owner may of messed with the direct levels leaving some patches lack luster, but after adjusting if sounds great for roughly 30 year old unit.

Would you like to swap the eprom with Shadows patches burnt in for a standard Qplus eprom
