Sky Arts last night (Saturday) not only ran a very good Hollies documentary but also The Shadows 'Final Tour'(which it wasn't of course . I was there at the start of the 2004 run and at the Birmingham NIA for, allegedly, the final, final one in 2005 and enjoyed it all over again. BUT - now and then something was definitely wrong with the recorded sound - Overpeaking? Clipping? A sound desk feed issue? Lousy copy being broadcast? Is it just me?? Anyone know? Secondary question - Hank uses 2 Strats, one with Easimute trem, that looks like an HBM 40th Anniversary?? Anyone know why he changed over now and again? And what was the second one? Bests Ian

It was a well known issue with both the Final Tour CD and DVD, particularly during the first half. Hanks guitar tech had his echo unit input signal set too high causing the distortion which is very evident. At the break, Hank was summoned to the desk to have listen but it was too late, the damage was done. Input levels were reduced for the second half but the overall consensus was that it could have been reduced a tad more.
Re the guitars, they were strung differently the higher gauge one for the early numbers.

I think both guitars were Hank Signatures from the 1992 series and were fitted with Kinmans (you can see the Kinman logo on the covers). I don't think Hank ever played the 40th Anniversary live.

at the Birmingham NIA for, allegedly, the final, final one in 2005 Me too - May 15th 2005 - my son's 12th birthday and my first real date with Miranda! We were about 10 rows back from the stage. The date worked out :-)

Thanks Alan and Tone forvthe clear up. Hi Tolo, Val and I were cRow 7 and more or less central. I took a pic of the Stage pre-gig with the white Burns crntre stage under a single spot. A fun Shads leg pull. Remember that in Guitar Tango, Bruce got carried away and popped in an extra 'verse: Picked up brilliantly by Hank and Brian. HBM wagged a 'naughty finger at Bruce - but with a big grin. Ah memories. Bests Ian
