I was curious to know what cables lengths people use? I was trying a different set up at home cause I don’t have a lot of space, I’ve got my amps on one side of the room and my pedals and monitors on the other for convenience. . I thought all that stuff about different length cables changing the tone was more guitarist cork sniffer stuff, but I noticed going into my AC30 the signal got thinner and lost some mids, using about 18 foot of cable . I thought there was something wrong with the amp at first. It was annoying me so I’ve had to put the pedals closer again Matthew

Hi Matthew, Have you considered using a transmitter between your pedal board and amp? I used to use a 6m cable.
Kind regards,
Chris

I first started with a Fender Deluxe cable in tweed version , length of 4,5 meter or 15 ft. From guitar to Vox AC15C2 .The sound was very dull and bass. Treble cut cable…… Then I bought the Mogami Platinum : much better and less hum . 15 ft. from guitar to the Vox . The Klotz Titanium is also very good , same performance like Mogami. But the best investment for that sound and I said it before : Hall & Collins Echo Unit ! Day and night in sound !! I use from guitar to the H & C a cable of 3,0 meter ( 10 ft ) and from the H & C to the Vox a cable of 4,5 meter ( 15 ft ) . I think , and Charlie knows this better , that the cable from guitar to the H & C unit is not such the problem. Invest in good cables , the chain is only as strong as its weakest link……. Cheers Scanners

The cable from the pedals to the amp shouldn't matter, unless it is faulty. I really can't understand the amp sounding thin because of a cable from the pedals, unless it is simply because you are listening to the amp from too far away. Keep the guitar cable short if you don't want to lose too many highs and don't want a nasal tone because of too much capacitance. I use 10 feet or 3 meters from the guitar, but use whatever gives you the sound you want. Regards Charlie
