Kay,
I keep remembering things after the event - the price of old age - and another thought I've just thunk is Newtone strings. They were highly recommended here a few years ago because the wire core of the wound strings is round as opposed to hexagonal, so more flexible and easier to bend. Not all their strings are like this so you need to read the details on their sets, and they're not the only ones who do this. I think DR might do some too.
Whatever you do, good luck,
Len

I bought and recommended Newtone strings until I was told they were no longer pure nickel wound. I currently use Pyramid pure nickel wound strings and I like the sound but have found intonation issues with a few of the wound strings. Regards, Charlie

cant go wrong with d addario 10 to 46 they last well too in my experience.dont forget mr marvin didnt have access to fancy, expensive strings in the glory days.i remember reading once, somewhere, that he didnt put new strings on before recording.just what he had on at the time.didnt stop him getting that sound!its possible to over engineer anything.

(ohh 0hh sparklie things mmmmmmmm).......... so another brand i didn't know existed, ill think ill have to take up the Drums, and dont tell me 52 different types of drum skins.....
Thanks so much for your advice and help Len always welcome

Hi Andy, Yes you are quite right you can over engineer anything and i must agree with that, however my main intention was to find out why so many guys are using them and what is the difference between them and standard strings, with a possability of changing to one of those types, to see if they suited me better than my D'Addario 10/46 which at the mo are my goto strings and have been for many years since i changed from Fender Bullits which went "flat" while you made a cup of coffee.
really grateful for your input Andy
Best wishes
Kay
