Hi Darrell, Unfortunately not. Some parts are no longer obtainable. I am beginning to lose hope of it ever seeing the light of day. I am very sorry to have to say this. Regards, Charlie

Hi Charlie,
Chin up! One thing is certain and that is you are far from being alone. We are all waiting anxiously for things to improve...and, in time, they will. Industries and governments around the globe are strongly motivated to drive forward relentlessly to find ways through this period of economic gloom. Covid-19 Pandemic, Lockdowns, Russia’s barbaric war in Ukraine and its ramifications were/are significant contributory factors. However, positive progress is occurring on all fronts. We must try to remain patient. Things will get better!
Best wishes, Mike

Hi Mike, I am afraid I am more pessimistic than you Mike. I am not starting a discussion on politics and I will shut down any attempt to start one, but I don't believe things will get better for a very long time. Regards, Charlie

Hi Darrell, Some parts are no longer obtainable. Charlie, I expect you've got lots of time on your hands How about two projects, a single valve EF86 preamp, maybe making the design open source (small numbers of PCBs can be ordered easily online from places such as JLCPCB), and a longer term project to re-design the pedal with more easily available parts and, perhaps, in a standard box where component sizes are not such a concern and might be less expensive. -- Ian

Hi Ian, I'm not interested in anything that uses a real EF86. The pedal is a complete amp emulator and all solid state. I did wonder about simplifying the design. It seems there are not really enough people interested in it for it to be worthwhile now. Regards, Charlie

I’m still very interested Charlie! You’re a great guy and I know that your redesign will be excellent! I own two of your H&CSE boxes and they’re amazing! - so you’ve got a great reputation as Mr Electro-whizz already!

It seems there are not really enough people interested in it for it to be worthwhile now. Hi Charlie, Can you be sure about that? Are you suggesting that there were never sufficient numbers to justify going to manufacture with a decent prospect of achieving a good return? How about conducting a Poll or PM/emailing everyone here to reaffirm their interest in purchasing a unit? Seems to me that you can’t predict the likely market without first advertising the existence of the product beyond these forums. The beauty of being able to capture that unique sound by using this pedal with any amp must have huge appeal. Who wants to purchase and lug around an AC30 when the EF86 pedal will deliver the goods just as well when coupled with your favourite amp? The reversal of component shortages must be a global priority. It could take another year or two, but the imperative is there. I predict it will happen sooner rather than later. Regards, Mike

IMHO,this post is 10 days old and has already 650 views ! I want one for sure , just like I have the H&C Echo Unit of which I am very satisfied ! I proposed even for a H&C unit Mark II , with combination EF86 emulator …. But Charlie thinks , its a commercial disaster . …. I think there are many people with money in the hand for the EF86 project ………… But with great respect for Charlie , it is his decision . But a poll would be great !
It’s no coincidence that many people are searching for a second hand H&C unit …….🙏
