I think either Apache or South of the Border is the easiest to learn

I would say Midnight is the easiest one I can think of. When I was about 12, my dad made me play it all the way through on a Burns Sonic (with no backing of course!) in the shop where he was buying it for me.

Charlie

It seems a lot of people in our local Guitar Club start off with The Stranger and it is fairly straightforward.

I would say "Little B"....
No to be serious, even the easy tunes are differcult to play if you like to play them right.
It is not just to play the right notes, but it is also the feel and technic.
Cheers,
Emiel

Hi Charlie
Ah, but did you play the spread chords and double stops in the second verse of "Midnight" which makes it a bit more difficult?
I'm surprised nobody's mentioned "Dance On." When I'm struggling with a tune (happens frequently) I'll have a break and play Dance on which makes me feel that I can at least play something!
Cheers.
Tony

Hi Tony,
To be honest, I don't think I've played Midnight since those early days so I don't remember if I did the spread chords and double stops!

Charlie

Hi dionne171,
In my opinion the Apache is not easy to learn it right (it is the most popular Shadows tune indeed), but I would definately not list it within the first three easiest one to learn.
It involves bending, sliding, palm muting and using swaybar, the gallopping part can make your picking hand stiffen up if you're not using the right technic.
Unless you have been playing guitar anyway (and you are new to the Shadows tunes and sound only). I would not start with Apache if you want to feel successfull soon in learning to play the guitar or Shadows tunes.

Hi Charlie and all, when i say all older tunes didn't hard to play i think all older tunes is easier to play than recent or Hank Marvin solo albums. I forget say,on Goran Tangring site you can find many backing tracks and gtr tabs for Shadows tunes, just go on goran.tangring.com/ ,Tony.
